All Music Guide - Stephen Thomas Erlewine
Toby Keith jumped from Mercury to DreamWorks after his fourth album, Dream Walkin' and How Do You Like Me Now?!, his first effort for his new album, finds the singer/songwriter revived and refreshed, shaking loose some of the sleepiness of his two albums for Mercury. Not that he's given up slower tunes -- he still has a keen ear for sensitive love songs and heartbreak sagas, manifesting in both the light, sweet "Heart to Heart (Stelen's Song)" and power ballads like "When Love Fades" -- but there is a bit of a showy defiance here, best heard on the hit title track, "Die with Your Boots On" and the rocking "Country Comes to Town." When taken together, these two sides present the new Toby Keith persona: the big, bad outlaw who hides a big, soft heart. He would further develop and refine this persona in a series of excellent albums in the 2000s, but this is where he debuted it and if, in retrospect, How Do You Like Me Now?! is a little bit ragged compared to what came later -- the swagger isn't as gritty, the ballads a little bit syrupy -- it nevertheless is a compelling, successful beginning of the second stage of Keith's career, built upon some very fine songs.

I recently became a Toby Keith fan. I purchased several of his albums. This is my favorite one. I love all the songs on this one. My kids love the song, "When country comes to town." I would definately recomend this album!

    I like him just fine!

Another strong album for Toby. This is his first on his new label, Dreamworks, and the differences are noticable. Toby is less restrained, more himself, and we love it! "Heart to Heart" is billed as a song for his son, but truely is a tribute to his wife and her strength and love for their son. It is very moving. There are also lots of fun songs, just as we have come to expect from Toby.

I just don't like Toby...I love him and this album!

Toby Keith had slowly been building up his success over the years in the country music scene, and he's now made his mark both on TV and in music industry! However, as an artist with some bona fide hits on his belt and some hit albums to wear on his buckle, this album really propelled Toby Keith to stardom. The title track, which also served as the first single became the #1 most played track of 2000, and for a good reason! ¿How Do You Like Me Now¿ became one of the top country singles of the year, thanks to a catchy tongue-in-cheek ode to a high school crush who spurned him¿an event that more guys than we know actually relate to! For anyone who¿s looking for a country album that is a lot of country and a little bit of rock¿n¿roll, this album deserves a place is his/her CD collection!

How do I like him now ??

Everything Toby Keith does is awesome and his latest album is no exception. I honestly don't believe that Toby has ever gotten near enough credit for his incredible talent !! This guy writes nearly all of his own songs and then sings them like nobody's business!! He puts on a terrific show -- sounds great -- looks even better !! If you've stopped long enough to listen there's just no way around it -- he is one of the very, very best in country music !!

    He's # 1

I became a fan for life, the very first time I heard him on the radio, that was 8 years ago. There's just a uniqueness about his style, voice and the songs he writes. He is a shining STAR...I love every single song on each and every album he's made. Can't wait for the next one...
