Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
They call high stakes poker player Annie Duke "Cook Hand Duke." They also call her super-cute: She's been featured in Playboy, People, Maxim, and other magazines. In September 2004, this red-haired mother of four toppled gender stereotypes by raking in $2 million in the World Series of Poker Tournament of Champions. This candid memoir explains how a nice Ivy League graduate from New Hampshire became the top-ranked female poker player in the world.

    Fun and easy read

This autobiography is a nice, relaxing read for those with an interest in the game of poker. Annie takes the reader through her life with enough detail to give the reader a feel for how she got where she is without excessive detail. While there were times I felt the chapters on the Omaha tournament drug on a bit, they nevertheless gave a lot of insight into the game.

If you're looking for a text on how to play poker, look elsewhere. But for those who love the game of poker and are looking for an easy, entertaining read, I highly recommend the book. You'll even pick up a few pointers.
