Editorial Reviews

Booknews
A statistical survey of changing wage structures in the United States over the past four decades. The primary author Levine (business, U. of California at Berkeley) and his collaborators document rising overall inequality and rising inequality for within an employer and for similar workers at different employers. They find rising returns on skills and education. They test whether shocks to product markets or to labor markets affect the level of wages paid by large employers or the rigidities over time and space at large employers, finding no correlation.
