I was wishing that the author would have been non stereotypical, but yet she was. This book centered around her circle of self-absorbed clients and neighbors whose main objective was to make everyone outside of this area listed feel inferior to them. No real solid advise, other than if you want to get respected, starve yourself.

If you are lactose intolerant, you don't want this book. On this diet, you are expected to eat lots of dairy. Milk, in fact, is a poor source of calcium because the human body has a hard time absorbing the calcium in milk. Even though the author suggests low fat versions, dairy is still fattening and causes bloating in many people. Get ready to start counting calories and measuring portions which is a typical downside of dieting and why most people give up soon after starting. I was discouraged even before finishing the book. I bought the book out of curosity instead of for weight control because I am happy with my weight, but if I had weight to lose, I would not chose to follow the guidelines in this book. The author mainly targets those living in New York City and who are familiar with the sites. A very disappointing and discouraging read. This is not the solution to weight loss.

The book had a couple of good points about nutrition, but overall it was a waste of time. The author tried to help out by describing things to do or places to go eat, but they were all in New York. The author also went into detail about ordering healthy alternatives when you go out to eat, but they were specific to the restaurant that just happened to be IN NEW YORK. The Diet Plan was good, as long as you enjoy eating fish a lot.

This is by far the easiest and tastiest dietary modification program I have ever used, and the results are amazing! This is truly something I can live on for life quite happily! One of the recipes has become a household favorite. My 5 year old daughter has switched from store bought chips to the more healthy and easy to make parmesan crisps which are filling, tasty and satisfying. I have gotten my office involved as well. I can not ever remember feeling as excited about any food program ever as I am about this! The attage 'Mother knows best' truly applies here, my mom is the one who got me started!

As a health professional, I have seen many, many diets come and go. The information in this book should not be viewed as a quick fix, but rather a blueprint on how to eat for optimal health and wellness. Dr. Klauer has a clear and concise focus on what needs to be done to lose the weight. She truly tells it like it is. Throughout the book, Dr. Klauer not only stresses high quality proteins and colorful fruits and vegetables, but also calcium, which is quite often negected by other 'diets'. I have used The Stop! Watch! Method to curb my own cravings more than once it really works! Also, as a New York City resident and health and fitness professional, I have worked with some of Dr. Klauer's patients. The ones that have stuck to her diet and exercise plan have made amazing transformations to their bodies that have changed the quality of their lives. All in all, I highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking to lose weight, and wants advice they can trust.

Just completed the 3 day jump-start and 4 days of the program and already feel lighter, calmer and a sense of 'I CAN DO THIS'. So happy to have found something so doable and manageable. Love the recipes and each meal is easy to make and fun to shop for!
