This is a great beginning for a series. Loved the characters and the storyline. Very interesting and a page turner! Was kinda not liking Xavier for his treatment of Leawyn....but it all worked out in the end. Will be reading the second installment soon as it's released.

This is book 1 in the Falling Warriors series. Leawyn was the daughter of a Chief so in order to end a feud she was given to Chief Xavior as a wife. Of course she is not happy so she spends her time wanting to escape. Then a problem come sup that put BOTH her old tribe and her new tribe in danger and she may be a key part in it. She has to decide to run or try to stay and convince her husband to love her. I did not like how Leawyn was treated after her marriage when he knew better, he just didn't want to. Other than that I did enjoy the book. The characters were well written and the setting was good for the book. The last chapter and the epilogue were too far apart though I think. I did enjoy the book and will read more from this author

Wow! FULL of raw emotion, with violence, rough sex and fantastic characters to make up this epic story. It sounded good from the blurb and I was not disappointed. :) For some it may have been hard to work through but I’m a reader who has to do so in one sitting and was the perfect read for my Sunday evening. It tells of the coming together of two strong willed people - Leawyn who fights being forced to marry when her heart is elsewhere, or so you think. Then there is Xavier, a hardened man from life experience who fights for the good with his brother and cousin alongside him. Xavier does not know how to ‘love’ when those he loved were slaughtered. In his way he ‘cares’ for those who mean something to him and sees Leawyn, as a means to have an ally in a neighbouring tribe. Their relationship is HARD, and at times violent, rough and yet their is a sensual spark, that just needed time to grow. Their are many events surrounding this relationship, even the loss of her first child, that she is never told off due to the circumstances. Nicole Rene’ has created characters that seem so vivid and alive as you read this book. Be warned there is some graphic descriptions, but given the period of this story, they are pretty much what some folks will know from our History. (Being British I have read such stories.) I wanted to hate Xavier for being so cruel, but his background is the main source why; his toughened exterior through raw need to survive and be the strongest. There were times I felt sad for Leawyn, even close to tears when Xavier’s horse dies. The connections between these people was so good and so real I felt. If you enjoy such stories as this, then you will this book. I for one can not wait for the cousin to claim his bride and for the brother to return, hoping he too will find a woman of worth. I must say there were odd moments of a light chuckle but this is a dark romance that does end as well as can be for some of the characters and with our couple finally at peace and in love. I am voluntarily reviewing this book gifted to me as part of a review event giving my honest review, under no obligation by the author. For me, it was worth staying up to complete in one sitting. :)
