    An updated, first-rate guide with practical and sound advice

    We have not been involved in an international adoption, but friends have adopted four siblings from Lithuania. The easy-to-follow steps of the international adoption process makes this book very user friendly. Covered are the adoption laws of dozens of child-placing countries along with samples of required documents and the approximate costs of adoption, the health concerns of Third World orphans and web sites of foreign embassies, as well as parent support groups. The book has been revised and updated in a 2003 edition, still, the prospective adoptive parents must remember that some of the information may change from one year to the next. Good luck! Our friends are very happy with their Lithuanian children. We had them over for dinner and couldn¿t believe how well-adjusted and delightful they were.     Makes a complex process seem easy

    By breaking the international adoption process into clearly explained and easy-to-follow steps, the Erichsens have helped me and other paperwork phobics get through what initially seemed like a confusing and overwhelming process. I especially appreciated all of the samples of forms and documents and the packing lists. Even though we used an adoption agency, this book was invaluable to helping us understand the process and prepare the paperwork correctly. It also helped us feel much more prepared for our adoption trip.

    a tremendous and comprehensive guide

    This book is a must read for anyone who is either thinking about adopting internationally or is in the process. It not only gives detailed and understandable step by step instructions, but deals with the issues adoptive parents face after they bring their child home. Ms. Erichsen's expertise in the field shines through once again.

    adoption made easy

    How to Adopt Internationally is a must have book for anyone who is considering adoption or is currently going through the process. We adopted our son three years ago and this book was our bible! It explains the process each step of the way and has samples of most if not all of the endless amounts of forms that need to be filled out. It really saved on my calls to our adoption agency! We are so thankful to Jean Nelson Erichsen for writing this book which helped with the adoption of our child who has so enriched our family.
