Meet the Author

Budd Hallberg started his career in 1966 as an investment banker, fi rst with Francis I. duPont & Company, then Dominick & Dominick, Inc., and later Hornblower & Weeks-Hemphill, Noyes, Inc. He was a member of the New York Coff ee, Sugar and Cocoa Exchange, the New York Cotton Exchange and the New York Mercantile Exchange in New York City. In 1976, Hallberg joined the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) in Washington, D.C. In 1979, the CFTC awarded him the Federal government’s Meritorious Service Award. He was appointed a Director of the agency that same year. Hallberg is an internationally respected litigation consultant and expert witness. Beginning in 1985, his litigation career spanned a period of 23 years and involved 43 lawsuits. He acted as a testifying witness in 26 of those 43 cases. Hallberg provided litigation consultant and expert witness services to organizations such as the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner and Smith and the New York Stock Exchange. He is a member of the Chartered Financial Analyst Society of Philadelphia. In 1965, Hallberg was appointed a Reserve Commissioned Offi cer in the Army of the United States. He is a graduate of the Command and General Staff College of the United States Army. Hallberg is the recipient of the Meritorious Service Medal and the Army Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters. He retired from the United States Army with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in 2002. Hallberg has a B.S. degree in liberal studies from the University of the State of New York. He holds a M.A. degree in philosophy from Goddard College. Hallberg also studied at the University of Connecticut and Harvard University. He is a member of the Racquet Club of Philadelphia and the Society of the Cincinnati. Hallberg is an avid horseback rider and enjoys golf and tennis.
