Continued excellence from one of the best bands ever

dada, one of the most underrated bands of the 90s, took a self-imposed hiatus of about five years to pursue solo projects after the release of their fourth, awesome self-titled CD. After a whirwind domestic tour last year, they are back together, and have released How To Be Found, a collection of previously unreleased songs recorded mostly for the dada CD. These are not fillers or B-sides, this was material that would have been their fifth album had MCA held together long enough to release one. That said, HTBF is a terrific package. Songs like the title track and "Any Day The Wind Blows" have a shimmering retro vibe, updated with dada's trademark harmonies and stellar instrumental work. Phil Leavitt's drum work on "Any Day" and "It's All Mine" is crisp and solid. Michael Gurley's guitar soars all over "Reason", "I Wish You Were Here Now", and "Crumble". And the wonderful, complex harmonies that these guys are capable of stand out on nearly every track. Forget alternative, forget 90s, forget Dizz Knee Land even, this is a varied, enjoyable set of rock-pop that will not disappoint any listener.

    DADA rides again!!!

DADA is so awesome! Excelsior musicianship, great song writing and sublime harmonies. This one has such a groovy, sensual vibe to it - guys, all you need is a date and this CD! If all you know if DADA is Dizz Knee Land, you need to listen again because you're missing out big time!

    Glad I found dada

I missed this band completely when they originally came out, first finding them mid-2003 when I took my daughter who was the original fan to see them live. From the first song of their live set I was hooked. I quickly consumed their first 4 studio albums and couldn't wait for more. The intelligent lyrics, incredible Beatlesque harmonies and all around brilliant musicianship I came to know in their earlier efforts shines through here on How To Be Found. My favorite songs are crumble, any day the wind blows and reason. Michael Gurley's guitar work is amazing as are his vocals. Joie Calio provides thunderous bass lines and his plaintive vocals really reach out to you. Together, Michael and Joie blend to make beautiful harmonies. Phil Leavitt is probably the best small kit drummer out there today and he solidly pushes each song here to perfection. Never overpowering, Phil is the most musical drummer I've ever heard. Bottom line...How To Be Found is a great choice. If you have never heard dada before, you're in for a real treat. And if you have, you'll welcome this addition to your collection.
