How to Be Jewish

How to Be Jewish

by David C. Gross

Editorial Reviews

Library Journal - Library Journal
Directed to Jews who know little or nothing of their religion but want to know more, and also addressing curious Christians, this handbook purports to convey a basic knowledge of the beliefs, rituals, and customs of the Jewish faith. Unfortunately, the author presents a poorly organized, simplistic popularization of Judaism. He omits any serious theological or metaphysical discussion of his topic, e.g., belief in God, His revelation, and His relationship to Israel hardly enter the discussion at all! This effort is a confused, well-intentioned pastiche that will bewilder most neophyte readers. Not recommended.-- Robert A. Silver, Shaker Heights P.L., Ohio
