How to Become an Elected Official based on 0 ratings. 1 reviews.
During the writing of HOW TO BECOME AN ELECTED OFFICIAL, I sought to adopt a realistic-yet-hopeful approach to the subject matter. The problems of becoming an elected official in this country are daunting, and merely becoming elected is only the start. Actually serving in office and planning your re-election is no less difficult. I wanted newly awakening political aspirants to know the secrets and be aware of some of the pitfalls that attend seeking public office. At bottom, the act of running for and serving in public office is a spiritual and moral adventure that can drain the mind and body of considerable energy. But it can also be extremely rewarding. The approach I have taken is to create a 'big picture' look at the strains, dangers, and excitement of becoming a candidate, while avoiding the stale, old-fashioned civics lesson approach favored by traditional texts. Political Science studies have shown that public affairs are of deep interest to our brightest students. In HOW TO BECOME AN ELECTED OFFICIAL, I suggest that they try to be realistic and idealistic at the same time, however tough that may be. In every paragraph and chapter, I've tried to convey that message in lively, age-appropriate prose.
