Overview

Antiques author, John Gollehon, doesn’t believe in the old
adage about buying low and selling high. He says only half
of it is true. “If you buy low, you don’t have to sell high to
make money. And being able to sell at more reasonable
prices, you’ll sell more!”
Collectors who have no intentions of selling can also
benefit from his new book. After all, no one can argue that
getting a good buy is half the fun!
Everything from what to buy to how to buy, and when to
buy to where to buy, is clearly explained. Plus, a full
chapter is devoted to a long list of collectible categories,
rated in terms of demand, trend, and value.
“How To Buy Antiques At Bargain Prices!” is the first
book that actually teaches you what others have learned
through years of experience. That’s right! Consider it your
shortcut to successful antiquing!

Meet the Author

A collector of antiques
since his early teens, the
author’s buying and selling
over the past 40 years have
taught him the importance of
“buying right,” which is the
central theme of his new
book.
As an avid researcher of
antiques, Gollehon has a
strong knowledge of the
many categories and the
idiosyncrasies of each. As a dealer, primarily in
bottles and rare books, he has experienced, firsthand,
the difficulties of selling a dwindling supply
of product to an increasingly specialized market.
At present, the author is finishing plans for
“Antique Village,” a project that he hopes will
become the prototype for similar attractions across
the country. The park-like grounds will feature
shops and restaurants geared to collectors.
Gollehon certainly has had a varied background.
During a 10-year stint in radio and television, he
founded a speaker manufacturing company in the
late ’60s, a book publishing company in the early
’80s, a restaurant in the late ’80s, and a golf club
manufacturing company in the late ’90s. In addition
to antiques, Gollehon is considered an expert
on casino games, appearing on numerous television
documentaries.
During his free time, if he can find it… he loves
garage sales!
