Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Melinda Medley Sprinkle
Many children have a difficult time taking tests. They get nervous, rush, and often make careless errors. For many students, the lack of test-taking skills is due to their lack of knowledge on how to prepare themselves for the big day. This book describes suggested study methods and strategies for taking exams, quizzes, and standardized tests. By using this book as a resource, children will learn the skills necessary to battle their way through any test. Sample questions including true/false, multiple choice, short answer, and essay provide examples for students to examine and learn from. This book is part of the "School Survival" series and is a must for teachers, parents, and students who are struggling with test taking. It is conveniently divided into three sections and also contains an index.

Best on Tests Tip #8:

On a true-false test unless you've been told not to, guess at answers that you aren't sure of. If you are penalized for wrong answers, don't guess. Since you have only two possibilities in a true-false test, you have a 50-50 chance of being right, so guessing here is safer than in other forms of tests.
