I bought this on a whim after coming across it on the bargain rack. Now I want to buy one for everyone I know! It is jam-packed with tips and has become my go-to resource for any question about how to clean this, or what to do about that. The book is organized into FIVE SECTIONS: *Kitchen Hints, *Indoor Hints, *Outdoor Hints, *Safety and Environment, and *Daily Living. Within each section there are several chapters. For example, under Kitchen Hints, there are chapters on ¿Eating smart and cheap¿, ¿Food, glorious food¿, and ¿The intelligent kitchen¿. The range of information is INCREDIBLY COMPREHENSIVE. I¿ve learned several tips on how to get stains out of carpets (as the title suggests), but also how to deodorize my carpet and make it brighter using ordinary household materials. **Other THINGS I'VE LEARNED: ways to recycle used cartons to help be more organized, how to make my dad less susceptible to mosquito bites, how leftover cola can be used to help clean around the house, how to disguise a scratch on my car, how to clean rust from old baking sheets, how to choose and store the freshest fruit, what food will ease diarrhea, how to make an instant pillow when guests come to visit, how to keep boiling eggs from cracking, and how to stop the frying pan from spattering oil so I never get burned again! I could go on and on. At first I was overwhelmed just because there is SO MUCH in this book! But the information is presented in a very EASY-TO-READ, EASY-TO-ACCESS format. The sections and subsections/chapters make it easy to look up information if you are generally interested in learning about tips on a general topic (e.g. bathroom cleaning). There is also a COMPREHENSIVE INDEX that can lead you to the specific answer you seek (e.g. mosquitoes). I can¿t imagine that anyone wouldn¿t learn something from this book. **THE AUTHOR HAS DONE A FANTASTIC JOB OF BRINGING A GREAT DEAL OF INFORMATION TOGETHER IN TO ONE AMAZING HOUSEHOLD RESOURCE.
