About the Author

R. Scott Alvord earned his Masters of Business Administration (MBA-MCA) from California State University Sacramento (where he was elected to the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society, the highest award a business graduate student can receive). Prior to this, he earned a BS in Computer Science from Pacific Union College.

Scott built his first business, a software development company, immediately after graduating with his first degree. He then transitioned the company into a part-time consulting company as he took a full-time, 18-year gig as a technical manager at the corporate office of a large healthcare company (20 hospitals and 17,000+ employees). He resigned upon the opening of his new restaurant as he morphed his award-winning software business into a business and technical consulting company, Advanced Development Concepts, LLC. Later he partnered with a buddy and formed an S-Corporation for a Christian networking business. At the time of writing this book, Scott owned and operated four businesses, and was in the process of selling one and starting a new one.

As a speaker, he has given presentations to thousands of people and helped hundreds of businesses start-up or perform at a higher level.

Experienced at evaluating and helping organizations maximize their competitiveness, service, and quality, Scott has evaluated both companies and governments for the prestigious CAPE (California Awards for Performance Excellence, the state's version of the prestigious Malcolm Baldrige Quality Awards). Scott was a Senior Examiner.

He serves his local community through numerous volunteer positions. As President of the Downtown Roseville Merchants, Inc. from 2006 to 2015, he worked heavily on downtown revitalization teams to help change the once-blighted downtown business community into a regional destination. He's active in numerous boards from his local neighborhood association board (currently president), a regional neighborhood oversight board, to business networking groups, to the city's Parks & Recreation Commission (currently chair).

Scott's leadership has earned him numerous community accolades. His regional community voted him #1 "Favorite Business Person" and #1 "Favorite Civic Leader" and he was a finalist as Business Person of the Year 2015.
