Excellent! A Must Read for New & Experienced Pet Sitters!

In this exceptionally well-written and wonderfully organized book, accomplished writer and professional businesswoman Angela Williams Duea introduces home business basics and gives all the important information you need in a positive way to not only start and run a pet sitting business, but how to prosper in your new venture. The demand for pet sitters has never been greater, but to succeed in this field, you'll need much more than a love for animals-you'll need to enjoy working with people and have business savvy as well. That includes the commercial side of it.

"How to Open & Operate a Financially Successful Pet Sitting Business" is full of cleaver and creative ideas you can use to successfully get the word out about who you are and what you do quickly and cheaply. Everything you need to know on getting started from sample documents to handling policies and procedures to safety issues, as well as creating a business plan is included. The book contains wonderful tips, proven marketing techniques and easily followed methods. And while Duea's purpose in the book is to tell about building a pet sitting business and developing a successful career in a rewarding profession, it's also about developing friendships, as well as business and professional relationships. Duea includes plenty of real-life case studies to help you decide if you have what it takes to be a pet sitter.
The second part of the book deals with interacting with clients. She also includes a heartfelt sympathy card to send to a client that experiences the loss of a pet. This is an excellent book highly recommended.

Guide to Combining a Love of Animals with Work for a Doubly Rewarding Opportunity!

In today's economy, nothing is certain except change. Change can come in any form be it the cost of items increasing, local attractions closing, or businesses downsizing. For most, a change in their current work situation would dramatically impact their financial stability thus making life even more complicated than it already may be. Now is the time to think of other options. What interests or hobbies do you have? Have you ever considered the possibility of making money while doing something you already love?

"How to Open and Operate a Financially Successful Pet Sitting Business" opens the door to one money making opportunity that is just starting to take flight. Are you a pet lover or better yet a pet parent that has plenty of love to share? If you answered yes, than perhaps this is an outlet for you. Of course, there is much more to pet sitting than meets the eye. Step one is the love of animals, but steps two three and so on require research, dedication, business savvy, and guidance. Author Angela Williams Duea provides all of this and more in this handy how-to guide. Within these pages, you will learn how to develop a service that will be valuable to both pet and owner, and still turn a profit for you. From determining if the preverbal shoe fits you for the job, to laying the law on the types of animals you will sit for, to writing a business plan, she has you covered.

The conversational style of this book makes it easy to follow while providing valuable information on all aspects to consider as a professional pet sitter. Although there are a few grammatical errors and one of the true-life experience stories is duplicated on two separate occasions, this book will prove to be an all-in-one reference for those seeking this field. The author even includes sample forms, a blank business plan outline, and a resource section listing various organizations and websites to further your knowledge before starting out. Any new endeavor can be intimidating, but with a well-founded interest in the task you choose and the supportive wisdom of those that came before you, the sky is your only the limit.

Love Animals lots? How about looking after lots for a living!

If you are an animal lover and have thought about pet-sitting as a career option, you should order this book. Surprisingly, this covers every possible detail (and more) with respect to getting into this service business. From idea, start-up and maintenance of a business, no stone is unturned. Everything is in an easy to read format and provides great case studies and advice from business owners sharing their experience.

The fact that sample forms and a pre-written editable business plan are included add significant weight to the value of this book. I was also very surprised at how many types of pets were covered in this book. I often forget that there are a handful of people out there who have primates as pets! It is great that they are covered within these pages.

The importance of not just loving animals because of their innocence is highlighted. If you are thinking of starting up in this market, this book will emphasize that you need to have patience and understanding for all types of possibilities and situations. An enjoyable and informative read.

    Very Useful!

If you want to work with animals and get paid for it, this is the book for you. Not only does it show you how to set up a viable business it also shows you how to keep it running and make it grow at the same time. Overall, I liked the writing of the book. It was light-hearted and easy to understand. I also liked how the book gets you in the right frame of mind to start a new business. Not only would it be useful for those who are just starting out in the business of pet sitting, but it would be very useful for someone looking for new ideas for their already formed business.

The book is well written and not many bad things can be pointed out, but I would say that it goes a little overboard with the details that state the obvious which most people would make out for themselves. Saying this, sometimes the simplest thing can slip a person's mind and it doesn't cause harm to have it included in the book.

I would strongly recommend this to anyone wanting to set up their own pet sitting business.

    Very helpful book!

This is something I do on the side; pet sit. When I began reading this, I found it a very interesting and useful tool for people who want to actually move their part time, or extra cash making pet sitting business into an actual full time career. It explains how to go about getting a lawyer and how having one can help you through not only legal matters but even just registering your business¿ name. This book goes through many different ways of setting up ways to be paid, so you have many options on how large or small to make your bill. In later chapters it also explains on how to care for each type of animal in order to further educate people so they can become good pet sitters.<BR/><BR/> This book is packed with so much information, but is not excessively long. If you¿re an animal lover and wanting to open your own business dealing with them this is the book for you. It is well worth the $39.95 price tag. This book defiantly deserves a 5/5.

How to Open and Operate a Successful Pet Sitting Business

Rating of 1-5: 5<BR/><BR/>As a pet lover and owner myself I really enjoyed this book. The first thing that struck me was the photos of the animals. I found them touching and vivid. They added a personal touch. The book also comes with a CD-ROM, which is a nice addition. This book is very informative. It takes you through the steps necessary to open your own pet sitting business. Of course, this business is not for everyone. The book clearly defines what kind of person can take on this sort of a business. You need to be reliable and trustworthy and love animals.<BR/><BR/>Throughout the book, there are little blurbs on different case studies, which were interesting and fun and added a more personal touch. It is estimated that Americans own 91 million cats and 74 million dogs. This book not only covers cats and dogs but ever other conceivable pet and even some animals you would never think of as pets! It tells you how to set up your business and what to do and not to do. There are helpful tips like carrying a cell phone. This is a good one for your own safety. In addition, you should never give clients your address. You could end up with a stalker!<BR/><BR/>Be careful and not print too many fliers. I learned that lesson while working in advertising. I actually found some of this information to be common sense but then not everyone has the same knowledge. The book gives you information on how to tell when an animal is distressed or hurt. It gives you the tools to properly care for them. This is great if you are a pet owner like me. In most cases, it just takes time to get to know the animal. You can learn its nature and how to bond with them. People will see how well you interact. Much of this type of business is word of mouth and getting your name out into the public eye.<BR/><BR/>This book covers it all from resources to setting prices to checking pet¿s heart rates. There is a section that contains recipes for preparing your own dog and cat treats. This could definitely save you money and be more beneficial for your pet. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who owns pets. There is a wealth of information in this book on almost everything to do with pets and animals themselves in an easy to understand format. I really enjoyed reading this book!
