    Most EXCELLENT guitar instruction!!!

I'm in my 30's and just took up the guitar. After about an hour, going through several books at my local (huge) bookstore, I picked this book. And, boy, I'm glad I did! It has everything you need to get started learning to play and then some. The best feature is that it gets right to the point! It's easy to follow, covers the each step slowly and is very encouraging. It covers position of body and fingers, notes, chords, picking, finger-picking, READING MUSIC, advanced music, how to buy a guitar, and many, many songs to play. The most practical and easy book I've found!

    Suprisingly Informative

I bought a guitar years ago and bought this book then without truly looking threw it. I was bummed at all the folk content since metal is my goal. This book turned out to cover more basics and what I consider needed info than any other I've seen. I want to be able to read sheet music, not just tabs and this book has been a good foundation.

    Good Entry level guitar book

This book was good at covering all aspects of guitars. I purchased it to learn more about the tablature and notes that can be played on the guitar. I have learned to chord and wanted more. This book covered the types of guitars and how to purchase one that is right for you and then goes into the playing. Since it covered playing chords, tabs and strumming with the beat I found it helpful.

    I ditto Leslie Harris's review

I first bought a book that was meant for a teacher to use, very superficial. Based on Leslie Harris's review I bought this book and it is like night and day. I still have a long way to go with my self-teaching but I belive I am on the right path.
