This book is a must read for anyone who is serious about getting to the next level in their careers. The advice that Mr. Pearson lays out in his book are straight forward and concise. Right from the onset of the book Fennorris' writing style captures you in a way that is authentic and sincere. How to Play the Game at the Top doesn't pretend by
telling you that it will be easy to get to the top..No! Hard work, core competency, and persistence are still invaluable assets in the professional arena and Fenorris drives this point home early on in the book.
It was very refreshing to get a glimpse into the often esoteric world that is Corporate America. Having worked in corporate America myself for several years before making the transition into full time entrepreneurship, I can truly say that I only wish that I had my
hands on this book when I first started my career. I worked as an accountant for a couple of large multi-national firms during my corporate America tenure; but to my pleasant surprise, the rules in this book even apply to entrepreneurs! That's what's so great about
this book; the rules and principles are applicable whether you're an entrepreneur or a corporate employee.
It is obvious that Mr. Pearson isn't intimidated by someone else becoming successful otherwise he wouldn't have written so candidly about what it takes to make it to the top and to also maintain your stay at the top as a consummate executive.
I appreciate how the author, Mr. Pearson, opens up about he overcame a "challenging" meeting at a critical stage in his career and how that experience essentially served as a catalyst for greater things in his career.
If I had to pick the most favorite piece of this book I would say that it would have to be making sure that you have to identify your" X" factor which will help me to become an indispensable at any
level of your career...great advice! More details in the book!
Once again, let me say that I wish I had this book while I during my corporate America experience, but I'm glad that I have had the opportunity to read this book at the stage in my entrepreneurial career.
I definitely will recommend this book to any person who
is serious about advancing in their careers now! Many things simply were not taught inside the classroom during my collegiate experience and still aren't' for that matter both at the undergraduate and graduate level. This book fills in the gaps of those areas that the collegiate level and graduate level institutions don't talk about in detail.
Pick this book up if you're serious about get to the top of your career and staying there. You won't regret it!

Finally, (sigh of relief), a book that provides useful, applicable information for women, instead of the usual cotton-candy fluff books that teach you how to get a man to ask you out on a second date...etc. In fact, in this volatile economy when all of the focus is on how to survive, this book teaches us that we can still strive to thrive. Now that's a word for your **s!Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
