How to Prepare for the Mat-Miller Analogies Testby Robert J. Steinberg, Robert J. Sternberg
Getting a good score on the Miller Analogies Test is often a prerequisite for academic postgraduate study, or for high-level placement in some prominent business firms. It is a 100-question, 50-minute exam that presents verbal analogies in the form of multiple-choice questions in a way that measures both the test taker's analytical skills and his or her general knowledge of history, culture, and world events. This newly updated manual presents a diagnostic pretest and 10 complete practice MAT exams with answers explained plus approximately 1100 additional practice questions with answers. There is also extensive advice on solving analogy problems, short-entry definitions of terms that often appear on the MAT, and tips on coping with test anxiety.

I purchased this book to help me prepare for the MAT. Having decided to return to school after many years in the workforce I realized I would be rusty in many areas. This book helps the test taker understand the test as well as provide you with a way to approach the test. After using the book and taking the practice tests I knew I would be able to pass the test, but I had no idea how well I could actually do. I left the test knowing I did OK, but I was thrilled when I opened my result envelope a few weeks later. I had scored higher than I had done on any of the practice tests! I managed to pull off a raw score of 75 and was in the 95% for my major. It was nice to see some of the actual questions, or variations of them on the test. The book prepared me well for the test and I would tell you to look no further when it comes to prep books. It was easy to understand, and allowed me to pace myself as I progressed through the tests.
