If you have:
  • Miscarried
  • Given birth prematurely
  • Experienced a still birth

or would like to avoid these tragedies in the first place, you need to read How to Prevent Miscarriage and Other Crises of Pregnancy by Dr. Stefan Semchyshyn and Carol Colman. Dr. Semchyshyn is one of the only four hundred doctors in the United States certified in maternal-fetal medicine and has a remarkable 97.5 percent success rate for bringing healthy babies to term in his high-risk-pregnancy practice. In How to Prevent Miscarriage and Other Crises of Pregnancy, Dr. Semchyshyn looks at the causes of miscarriage and premature labor, and offers sound, state-of-the-art advice on treatment and prevention. He details how to monitor your pregnancy from conception to birth and outlines a homecare program and emergency procedures designed to prevent a small problem in your pregnancy from becoming a crisis. Dr. Semchyshyn also discusses exercise, nutrition, coping with a difficult pregnancy, and much more. This is an essential book for every woman who wants to have a healthy baby.

Most Americans still believe that miscarriage is unstoppable. Dr. Semchyshryn says miscarriage does not have to happen, as evidenced by his remarkable 95 percent success rate of bringing miscarriage prone women to term. This book describes how the mother-to-be can work with her doctor to ensure that avoidable miscarriages are avoided.

Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
With the help of journalist Colman, maternal-fetal medicine specialist Semchyshyn has written an easy-to-understand, in-depth book that addresses the often overlooked issue of miscarriage. While it's common for obstetricians to dismiss miscarriages as ``nature's way'' of ending a problem pregnancy, Semchyshyn has achieved an excellent success rate in bringing miscarriage-prone patients to full term. The book covers all causes of miscarriage, diagnostic procedures to detect them, and possible treatment plans. For women concerned about this issue, the book offers a great deal more information than is found in the standard pregnancy manuals. This should be added to all public library health collections.-- Debra Berlanstein, Towson State Univ., Baltimore

    An Absolute Must Read

After suffering two unexplained miscarriages, I decided it was time I was armed with as much information on prevention/testing as possible. I was not going to go into another pregnancy 'clueless'. After reading this book, I now feel a little more confident about some of the testing that should be done and am not going to just sit back and possibly suffer another loss. I have regained the positive outlook I had with my first pregnancy. This book is an absolute must. The more you know the better off you will be for your next pregnancy.

    Filled with helpful information

This book is wonderful. There's information in this book that I just couldn't find in any of the usual pregnancy books. I suffered three miscarriages, and then was put on partial bedrest when I was twelve weeks into this pregnancy, to prevent a placental tear. I recommend this book highly to anyone in a high-risk situation.

    A must have!

If you have experienced multiple miscarriages like myself, you are searching for answers. This book helped me find questions and ideas that I should be discussing with my doctor before my next pregnancy.
