When people ask me how to get started in advertising, I can't do better than refer them to this book. It's a fun yet frank discussion of what creative directors want in budding copywriters and art directors, written by someone in a position to know. Explains what a <u>professional</u> portfolio consists of (even if you don't have produced work yet), how to pull it together with maximum impact, how to make contacts in the highly competitive advertising job market, how to present yourself effectively, what NOT to do, and more. It's not a generic 'how to get a job' or interview-skills book... this is specifically about the ad biz. If you already work at a large agency, you probably know some of it already, but the book is still a fun, inspiring read, and there are many good insights and references here for you, too.Was this review helpful?
