You may be looking idly in a pet-shop window one day and before you know what you've done, you have asked the owner just to let you see that little black-and-white number over there. You pick it up and that's your finish. You can win a dog through a newspaper or radio contest, or off a punchboard. A dog acquaintance may have puppies and its owner asks whether you would like one. You say certainly not, then you look at the litter, and wind up with two of them. You drive out to a country kennel to look at dogs with a friend who is going to buy one.
