How To Raise A Healthy Child In Spite of Your Doctor based on 0 ratings. 5 reviews.
I bought this book after I had my first child - I now have three. I can't count the times I've gone digging through my bookshelf looking for it - sometimes at 3:00 in the morning- trying to get advice and reassurance on how to deal with a sick little one. Number one book I'd recommend to a new mother.
This is my go-to book! I have read it and reread it and always learn something new. I appreciate the fact that Dr. Mendelsohn explains that doctors DO have their place in emergency care but that we don't need to run to see them for every illness. The majority of antibiotics are mis-prescribed to put the parents at ease! They just want to leave the office with that prescription!
Being a nurse... having a constantly sick son from age-5 week old- ear infection to age-2 yo -work up for Hodgkin's including surgery and biopsies... I turned to this book... My son 15 years later has not been seriously ill and has had NO medication... even survived the H1N1 in 5 days with NO medicine... and his brother 12 yo.. absolutely NO medicine or vaccination. 5'4" 93 lbs and healthy... thank you Robert Mendelsohn
Great book that helps parents make an informed decision regarding the health of their children. I see too many parents who just 'believe' because of tradition that they need to use medicine to keep their children healthy. This book educates parents on the truth of medicine and what it can and cannot do. I give it to parents in my practice to read all the time.
This book is a must if you have kids. It helps you to know when your child needs to see a doctor. It also helps you to realize we shouldn't go into their office with blind faith. It equips you with the knowledge you need to make sure your doctor is treating your child and not treating you, the worried parent. It gave me peace of mind.
