I highly recommend this book to all aspiring cooks. Let's face it--even the best cooks have occasional failures. The authors present a vast amount of useful, practical information for dealing with an array of kitchen problems, in a writing style so funny and engaging that this book makes a great read even when nothing is going wrong. I bought my own copy about 20 years ago and it has proven to be one of the most used and useful book on my kitchen bookshelf.
