Library Journal
As every owner of a videocassette recorder should be aware, just opening the cabinet is sufficient to void the warranty. But after that has expired, there is much minor repair and routine maintenance that can be done about as well, and much more cheaply, at home. This clearly written and well-illustrated manual would be excellent for the VCR owner wanting to attempt such repairs, but goes far beyond that: there are chapters on selecting and buying a machine, on tapes and their care, on the various kinds of TV and antenna hook-ups, and more. The authors are careful to emphasize what work is best left to professionals. Recommended. Donald J. Marion, Univ. of Minnesota Inst. of Technology Libs., Minneapolis
