Overview

"Want excellent insights on retirement planning from a professional who’s actually experienced retirement himself? You’ll get just that from Stan Hinden’s book, How to Retire Happy, now in its third edition. Stan was a Washington Post financial reporter for 20 years, and after he retired, he wrote the Post’s 'Retirement Journal' column for which he was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. What I like about Stan’s book is that it combines good financial planning information with his story about his own retirement. He’s candid about the mistakes he made and how he’d do things differently with the benefit of hindsight."
--Steve Vernon, columnist, CBSMoneyWatch.com

I downloaded the 39 page sample. The first 21 pages were titles, prologs, prefaces, acknowledgements etc. So I got to read less than 9 pages. If they're going to provide a sample they should skip all the the other stuff and let you see content.

Basic information for those who haven't given much thought to retirement. The author's view is valuable because, as a current retiree, he has experienced the issues first hand and has put them in a book. But most of the advice is elementary for those who keep up on general financial topics. Finances, on the other hand, is the furthest thing from my wife'd mind, and I know she will gain more from the book then I did. Written simply and very easy to read.
