Best book to get started with

Along with everyone else I have become addicted with Sudoku. I got a few books to start with but I didn't know how to go through them without guessing. This books show logically how to solve the puzzles and makes them much more fun by knowing how to solve them. This step by step guide is awsome and out of the books I looked at is the best beginning book to get. Instead of just giving tips it shows you exactly how to solve it.

How to Solve Sudoku by Robin Wilson

This little book shows that membership in MENSA is not requiered to work and enjoy Sudoku. I'd been rather perplexed with the usual rules and presentations in other Sudoku books. Concise and precise, it's very useful. I've bought three copies as gifts to frustrated friends and they were very grateful.

One of the best instructional books available.

This books lives up to it's 5-star rating by other people here. They influenced me to buy this book and I am glad that I did. This book is pocket-size but has lots of information. The solving techniques start out simple with 'scanning the rows and columns' and then gets to the advanced technique of doubles and triplets. I did find the explanation of the doubles and triplets OK but needed 'So Do Sudoku' to really get these concepts fully explained. This is still a great book and has some practice puzzles to get you started on solving some easy to moderate Sudoku puzzles

Very poor on twins and triplets

This A6 size book (HtoSS) while OK on basic scanning ,is very deficient on twins and triplets, but these are what you need to solve the difficult puzzles in mags, books, and papers. you need to know the how ,when ,and where of these and all variations. This book has only one instructional diagram on them, seeming to just mention them in passing.the only easy to understand guide that covers them properly is 'So Do Sudoku'(SDS)which has ten instructional diagrams on them. Also the intermediate technique in HtoSS is covered easier and better by an alternative scanning technique in SDS. For anyone who is already up to speed on twins and triplets these books would not be applicable. They are written for the majority of people who struggle with the puzzles in general circulation.

A Must Buy for Learning Sudoku

This book gives a systematic way to approach sudoku puzzles. Don't be tempted to jump ahead. It is excellent for the beginner and for those who may have been doing them for a while. This book moves you far ahead on your way to feeling you are an expert. Your enjoyment of sudoku will go way up. Buy it for yourself and for someone you know who would like to get started and not become discouraged. Just do it. You won't be disappointed.
