A thoughtful, no-nonsense and practical book about how to talk about wine, describe its wonders and enjoy its pleasure.
This book is useful for both newcomers to wines and for connoisseurs who far too often get caught up in snobby wine-speak that excludes rather than enlightens those around them. As the author Bernard Klem politely reminds us, wine is a food to be shared in a way that warms the soul of each and every one of our guests. Mr. Klem's unpretentious manner is a sure sign of his deep knowledge of and true appreciation for wine. Nothing humbles us more than a forthright exploration of an unfathomable subject. Mr. Klem opens the book with a touching dedication to his daughter-in-law Tina who passed too early, but not before leaving a lasting legacy as a caring giver to those in need. Tina, like wine, teaches us that life is mysterious and full of both delightful surprises and unexpected disappointments. In the end, and unconsciously or not, Mr. Klem encourages the reader to embrace an authentic expression of nature's generosity and its inclusive intent. Seems it was Tina's way.
