HOW TO WED A BARON by Kasey Michaels is a historical romance set Regency London. It i the fourth in "The Daughtry Family Series", but can be read as a stand alone.(Book one "How to Tempt a Duke", Book two"How to Tame a Lady",Book three,"How to Beguile a Beauty"). It is well written with depth, details, turns, twists, fast paced and a definite keeper. It has romance, friendship, forgiveness, love, wit, banter between the hero and heroine, trust, new beginnings, betrayal, deception, passion, sensuality, revenge, and the power of love. The hero, Justin, is handsome, wealthy, witty,an assassin, has a terrible temper, wants a pardon from the Prince Regent for past deeds, works for the Crown Regent as a assassin, and will totally fall in love with the beautiful Magdalena. The heroine, Magdalena(Alina) is young, innocent, half Romany, witty, is sent to England as Justin's betrothed by her King, has someone out to kill her or so they think and will fall hopelessly in fall with Justin. While Justin and Alina are pawns in someone else's game, they will learn to trust each other with their lives.Together will Justin and Alina outwit their enemies and start a new beginning? You will have to read this delightful fast paced, page turning book full of wit, adventure, suspense and intrigue to find out their story of trust, love and new beginnings. So much of the plot seemed redone to me. Like I'd read it all before. However, I adored the gypsy element (gypsies re in many my favorite books), the characters were fun, and the author made so many fun 'statements' that I'll absolutely be grabbing some of the other books in the series.

Then it gets boring fast. Too similar to other bodice rippers, far too similar. Then there is the believability factor - nonexistent. Then there is the lack of sympathy for the characters. I read the fist chapter, then the last chapter and had no interest in how they got there. Shame, because I have liked other stories by this author. This one is a skip.

Justin "Bad Baron" Wilde is irate as he has worked diligently for the Crown yet Prinny orders him to marry, but not a woman of his choosing. The Prince Regent selects an apparent innocent stranger who is even purebred English. He has no choice if he wants a pardon from the Regent. Half-Romany Lady Magdalena Valentin cannot believe she must wed a stranger known as the Bad baron. Still Alina sees the nuptials as a means of escaping her nasty aunt. When they meet, each is taken aback by their attraction. However, a powerful lord has plans for the innocent Alina so honorable Justin takes her with him to keep her safe though she distrusts her fiancé. As the enemy pursues them, Alina and Justin fall in love even as he wryly thinks he owes one to Prinny while each wonder why the forced marriage. This is an enjoyable Regency romance with a couple of mysteries enhancing the story line. Fast-paced, from the moment the disgruntled pair meet and flee, sub-genre fans, like the lead pair, will want to know the answers to why Prinny forced them to marry and why someone with power wants her. With two strong protagonists, readers will appreciate Kasey Michael's latest historical (see How To Tame Lady) Harriet Klausner
