HOW TO WOW with Photoshop Elements5

How to Wow with Photoshop Elements 5 by Jack Davis, Mike McHugh, and Wayne Rankin is a good instruction book for first time users of Adobe Photoshop Elements 5 as the contents shows what is covered in the book. It starts out with The Organizer which is the first thing you open in Elements 5. There are nine parts of the Organizer and the book takes you through each step one by one not only explaining the steps but showing illustrations of how the authors got to these steps. You can¿t get lost. It even goes to the very basic steps of backing up your photos which is elementary but often forgotten. If you have taken the time to download your photographs backing them up is one of the first things you should do and the book again explains in great detail how this is done.

The Editor is the most important step in adjusting your photograph. The authors with great care and illustrations start from the very beginning and step by step walk you through the process of selecting your photo and getting it correctly into Elements 5.

Elements 5 can do so much and each step is detailed to a great extent. Resizing an image sounds simple and it is following the instruction viewing the image size first, increasing, decreasing and resizing the canvas. Adobe puts a lot of tools to correct your photographs and leaves you on your own. The authors not only tell you what the tools do but tell you how to use these tools in all their variations which each have their own specific purpose.
Cropping, levels, adjusting lighting reducing noise and adjusting hue and saturation sound so hard and almost in a foreign language. Step by step they show what the image looked like before starting and after finishing and how they did it. You can put your before and finish pictures in the Editor and watch the changes right before your eyes.

There is no end to enhancing your photographs in How to wow with Photoshop Elements 5. For example you can take a plain dull sky and replace it with the most fantastic blue sky including puffy white clouds. Now if this isn¿t Wow I don¿t know what is. Now that you have fixed up your pictures you need to present them creating a PDF slide show, multimedia presentation, or by creating a web gallery. These are just a few ways to present your pictures with a whole chapter on how to do it.

I find that now I am enhancing my pictures with the help of How to Wow with Photoshop Elements 5. I am going out and taking specific pictures just to see how Elements 5 really works. I am now taking a collection of pictures to merge in the panorama tool. Don¿t try to memorize the book, just use the detailed index to take you to the section to enhance your photograph. If you follow the books instructions you can¿t help but take a great shot.
