'How We Returned to Egypt' is the first book about immigration of Russian Jews to Israel written by Russian Jew. The book describes the actual conditions of life in Israel especially for those who have recently arrived from Russia. The author made her observations while living in the closed sect of Haredim, a fundamentalist group that acts under the guise of Jewish ultra-Orthodoxy. ¿How We Returned to Egyp¿ it is a book about Jewish idealism and dsillusion in the contemporary Jewish world, its values and segmentation. The book talks about many things I never heard before. It is very courageous work that is sure to spark controversy among its readers and the public.

¿Ultra-Orthodox Jews live with us, secular Jews, sometimes on the same street but they form a closed society. To those who would like to familiarize themselves with this society, its customs and its way of life, I strongly recommend to read ¿How We Returned to Egypt.¿ ¿ Victor Brailovsky, Member of the Israeli Knesset
