Overview

Dr. Sylvia Mader's succinct, precise writing style. Sylvia's writing is what has earned her a reputation as one of the most successful introductory biology textbook authors ever, and it is the most compelling feature of this text.

Updated Boxed Readings Throughout —Human Biology features three different types of boxed readings. Theses readings have been thoroughly updated by Dr. Mader, as well as experts in the field, throughout the book to remain current.

A complete set of chapter learning aids includes a listing of chapter concepts, brief concept summaries within the chapter, boldface key terms, summary, and objective questions. Students value tools within the text that help them grasp the concepts.

Customize this book through Primis Online! This title is tentatively planned to be part of the Primis Online Database: www.mhhe.com/primis/online

Benefit : Professors can customize this book to meet their exact needs and mix and match with other items on Primis Online—allowing them maximum choice and flexibility. Instructors can choose between two delivery formats: custom printed books (in black and white) or custom eBooks (in color).

Emphasis on Homeostasis — Homeostasis is emphasized throughout the text. The homeostasis sections at the end of specific chapters and the accompanying homeostasis illustrations, have been revised for greater clarity and explain in depth how the body systems work together to maintain homeostasis.

CD ROM Won't Work on Win 7 - STUDENTS BEWARE

This piece of excrement company sends DVD ROMS - required for homework, that won't work on Windows 7 operating system. Of course, you don't know that until you OPEN the actual DVD (which means you can't send it back), where the readme.txt states that Win 7 is not supported. Because on the actual DVD the text reads, "Windows and Macintosh".

After opening a ticket with the company, they suggested I use it on a computer with a supported operating system. You PINHEADS! I only have one computer and your DVD won't play on it. Most college students I know don't have numerous computers laying around, so this effectively renders the book useless to get through my class.

This is *highly* unacceptable. Way to go people, gouging students - the people least able to go buy a another computer so your DVD will actually work. I would have expected for the amount of $$ I had to fork out for these books you'd have at least ensured it'd work on an OS that's almost three years old.

Windows 7 operating system was (generally) released in October 2009, and that's more than plenty of time for this company to have upgraded their DVDs to work with the most recent Windows operating system.

There is absolutely no good reason for them not to have upgraded their OS compatibility (other than being cheap effing b@st@rds) to Win 7. This is crippling for classes as difficult as these.

And no, the DVD still won't work even if you try running it in compatibility mode.
