Overview

Unlike any reference series before, the Insiders books deliver a visually stunning presentation that takes readers inside the action. Utilizing state-of-the-art CGI and 3-D model illustration, each breathtaking spread is complemented by the most up-to-date information in the field.

Human Body: this is a multidimensional view of the human body like you've never seen it! Get a glimpse inside blood cells; examine systems from the inside out; and look at cross sections of the brain, muscles, and bones.

Editorial Reviews

Double-page spreads and eye-catching, state-of-the-art illustrations that seem to jump out at you are just some of the alluring features of Simon & Schuster's Insiders series. The three-dimensional quality of the interior is prefigured by each book's vivid embossed, metallic cover. But this book isn't just glitz and pictures: it covers the subject in detail. Appealing graphics; memorable factoids.

What if you could jump inside your body and take a look around? Readers will feel like that is what they are doing when taking a tour through the fascinating 3-D illustrations inside this book to see how the body works. Readers will be able to see every system of the body and how each one works including intricate details, such as how the heart valve in the heart works, how someone's bladder is emptied, and which part of the brain controls different areas of the body. Bones, muscles, cells, and organs are also a focal point of attention. Contrary to popular belief, it takes fewer muscles to frown than it does to smile! Readers will also learn about the five senses and what vital parts they play with the systems in the body. Interesting facts are given in each area of the book grabbing the reader's attention. This captivating book will keep children mesmerized through the details given and illustrated. Parents would benefit from using it with their children to discuss how the body works. This instructive book would be an asset to any science and health classroom. This book is part of the "Insiders" series. Reviewer: Cathi I. White

I've been on the hunt for an excellent and accurate human body book for my child who is facinated by the subject, but have been very dissatisfied with the options available. This book (in fact the entire series of 'Insiders' books) really caught my attention. The pictures are visually stunning and detailed, and the text is informational while not being overwhelming. Easy enough for a child to understand but as an educated adult I found the book facinating and logically flowing. I would highly recommend it to anyone (of any age) looking for a serious and informational book that discusses every system of the human body.
