Tyler (Her Perfect Mate) upgrades the always-popular alpha werewolf to an alpha werewolf SWAT team leader in this contemporary romantic thriller with a paranormal twist. Gage Dixon was improbably permitted to fill the Dallas SWAT roster with handpicked pals who happen to be members of his werewolf “pack of alphas” (how that works is never really made clear). Journalist Mackenzie Stone has a sneaking suspicion that something isn’t right with the group of squeaky-clean men, but her quest for the story of a lifetime is put on hold when she and the team have to face down a criminal overlord. Filled with action-packed passion, the fun, uncomplicated story is easy to get lost in. Fans of complex werewolf mythology won’t find it here—the fellows only wolf out when it’s convenient, without a bad hair day or lunar calendar to be seen—but the well-developed characters and unusual premise provide enough material for what promises to be a long-running series. Prologue

Gage Dixon strained against the heavy barbell, relishing the resistance as the stacked metal plates on either end of the solid steel bar made the whole thing flex. The bar quivered slightly as it reached that sweet spot of the lift where his pecs stopped doing all the work and his triceps and shoulders kicked in. But he'd already been punishing his body for over an hour, and this time the bar momentarily stopped moving upward, gravity insisting that down would be a much better-and easier-direction to go.

He grit his teeth, let out a growl, and forced his muscles to keep pushing until his arms locked out straight. He racked the load with a clatter of metal on metal. Even then, the bar still bowed and flexed-loading 525 pounds on a barbell would do that.

Gage sat up and looked around the small weight room he and the other members of the Dallas Police SWAT Team had set up. It wouldn't measure up to any of the fancy gyms in the area, but considering they'd paid out of their own pockets for the mirrors, heavy-duty lifting equipment, and free weights, it wasn't too shabby. It would have been nice if it were bigger, though. The presence of the four other men reminded him just how small the room was.

Then again, his men made most rooms seem small-special weapons and tactics teams tended to attract big, muscular men, and his particular team happened to be bigger than most. No surprise there either-alpha werewolves were always big as hell.

Gage wiped the sweat off his face with the back of his arm and took a moment to appreciate the relative peace and quiet. Regardless of the room's size, it was rare for there to be only a handful of men in it. But with half the team out helping run weapon qualifications at the police academy and most of the others out conducting joint training with the ATF, the compound was practically empty.

Across the room, Diego Martinez spotted for his best friend and teammate, Hale Delaney, as the man tried to go for a personal record on the other bench press. At the same time, Gage's two assistant squad leaders, Mike Taylor and Xander Riggs, were hanging upside down from the ceiling-mounted chin-up bars, seeing who could do the most crunches. Alphas didn't need much of an excuse to turn everything they did into a competition.

They hadn't gotten around to cutting an opening for the air-conditioning units they'd bought for the room yet, so it was pretty warm. Which meant that all of them were sweating like crazy even though they weren't wearing shirts.

Gage was wondering if he should spring for some gym towels when he heard the sound of fast-moving boots coming down the hallway.

The other werewolves' keen hearing had also picked up the sound, and everyone was looking toward the doorway expectantly by the time McCall poked his head around the corner.

"Got a bad one, Sergeant," he said to Gage. "Hostage situation over on Belmont. Multiple injuries, at least two dozen hostages. Five shooters being reported."

"Well, there goes the workout," Delaney muttered, getting up from the bench.

Gage stood. "Five shooters, huh?"

At McCall's nod, Gage glanced at his two assistant squad leaders. "You two mind doing some entry work for a change while I run the show?"

"Hell, no," they said in unison, excitement clear on their faces, even though they were still hanging upside down. Kids-they're so easily excitable. Mike and Xander jumped down, joining Martinez and Delaney. Sweat was still running down their bodies, but they were eagerly awaiting his next order.

"Then gear up," Gage ordered. "I want us out of here in less than five minutes."

The four men cleared the room in seconds, leaving Gage with his weapon's expert. "Sorry," he told McCall, "but you're stuck here on the phones until we get some people back."

McCall grumbled-none of them liked to pull desk duty when there was a mission to do instead. But McCall knew it had to be done. "I'll get Martinez's and Delaney's assault weapons out for them" was all he said as he left.

Gage was only thirty seconds behind the rest of the team, but by the time he got to the second floor of the admin building, the other four men were already gearing up. He joined them as they yanked on navy blue T-shirts, matching military-style uniforms, and black boots. Then came the heavy black Kevlar vests, with tactical web pouches attached. The sounds of Velcro being yanked open filled the room as they adjusted their vests, ammo pouches, and holsters to a snug fit. The gear wasn't the most comfortable stuff to wear, especially during the hot Texas summers, but it came with being in SWAT.

McCall met them heading down the stairs, tossing Martinez and Delaney their military grade M4 carbines, while giving Gage more details on the situation. The kidnappers were serious-there were cops and civilians already on the way to the hospital in serious condition.

As they moved outside, Gage's men carefully checked their weapons, yanking slides and bolts back to inspect chambers, then dropping magazines and clips to check their loads before slamming them in with a firm click.

While they'd been working out in the weight room, there had been a lighthearted sense of competition about them. They'd even joked and laughed while they'd gotten dressed. But as they moved toward the operations vehicle and the white SUV that McCall had ready and running for them, the tone had changed. A charged intensity filled the air, the kind you sometimes feel right before lightning strikes.

They were heading out to face a group of men who'd already shown a willingness to shoot cops and innocents. They likely wouldn't hesitate to shoot a SWAT officer, given the chance.

Everyone turned to look at Gage just before climbing into the vehicles. He glanced at his watch-barely over three minutes since the call had come in. Good.

"We're going in a little undermanned on this one," he announced, though it wasn't something that needed to be said. "There's a department negotiator heading for the scene, and we'll give him every chance to get control of this situation. You heard what McCall said, so you know as well as I do how this one is likely going to turn out. These men are killers, so if we have to go in, don't take any chances. Hit them hard and fast, and let's get everyone out of there alive and in one piece-us included."

With that, Gage climbed into the passenger seat of the white SUV, and Martinez had it moving for the gates before he even got his seat belt on.

Great read!!! Read this book in one day! I was initially sceptical about how werewolf shifters with day jobs as SWAT officers was going to turn out, but I am so glad I gave in to the temptation. You easily fall in love with all the characters, and the story is just entrancing. Can't wait to read more about this Pack!

One of my favorite types of paranormal characters is the wolf shifter. I love reading about them and really love it when an author gives a new twist to the werewolf/wolf shifter legends. And that’s what the author did in HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLF.  I liked the fact that the Dallas SWAT team was also a pack of hunky alpha werewolves but I felt we didn’t get enough of the werewolf side of the story and I was really hoping for more of a paranormal aspect. I also didn’t like the heroine, Mackenzie. She’s a journalist who’ll do anything for a story, including exploiting Gage’s and the rest of the team’s secret. I didn’t feel any chemistry between her and Gage and I thought the story was a little light on the emphasis of the destiny of a werewolf’s one true mate. It was mentioned a couple times in after thought instead of showcasing it as the big deal that it’s supposed to be. The story was good and it was entertaining but the pacing was a little slow for me. I thought story could have been so much more. There’s a lot of potential here so I hope we’ll see more of it develop in future books of the series.  ***I won a paperback copy of the book from a Goodreads giveaway as well as receiving an eBook copy from the publisher via Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. Just when you thought you’d heard it all you could about “werewolves”, Paige Tyler comes in and twists it all around. Hungry Like the Wolf is an action packed adventure that puts a totally new spin on what it takes to become a werewolf. I’m not giving it away, you’ll have to read Hungry Like the Wolf to find out more. The elite Dallas SWAT team has a secret. A secret Mackenzie Stone, journalist, wants to uncover. But Gage Dixon will do everything in his power to protect his team and their secret, even if it means getting close and personal with the irresistible Ms. Stone. Caution: This plot contains a group of strong alpha males in uniform. The entire SWAT team is made up of werewolf shifters. The chemistry and possibility of “the one” are both evident from Gage’s and Mac’s first meeting, making the sexual tension extreme. The anticipation could be cut by a knife. I relished in the stories fast pace and action filled scenes but wished there was a little more world building that would give us a deeper connection to the characters. Hungry Like the Wolf is a great read for those of us who love an action-packed adventure with sexy shifters in uniform.

NUMBER OF HEARTS: 3 3/4 REVIEW:  Mackenzie Stone will do anything for a story. Her motto is “The truth should be told”, even if people get hurt. The story comes first. But Mac will soon learn that sometimes the truth can do more than hurt it can destroy.  Gage Dixon is the leader of the SWAT team. And he always puts his pack first. But when the nosey Ms. Stone butts her way into his life he either has to kick her to the curb and risk her finding out the true. Or pull her in and show her enough to throw her off the scent. Question is which is the lesser of the two evils?  This is going to be a good series I can see it already. I really did enjoy this first book. And like many first books in a series there is a lot of world building and history that needs to be laid out. So at times Hungry Like the Wolf was just a tad bit slow for me. At times I wanted to punt Gage & Mac both. But all in all I liked the story and can’t wait for more of these Wolf’s.  Disclaimer:  I received a complimentary copy of the book from NetGalley & Sourcebooks Casablanca in exchange for an honest review. This review is my own opinion and not a paid review.

The Dallas SWAT team is really something special.  They aren't just werewolves - because that just isn't special enough anymore.  They are all APLHA werewolves!  Can you imagine trying to keep all that testosterone in line???  Paige Tyler did it very well.  Our first leading man, Gage, is the apha-est of aphas, but even he can't always keep them from arguing.  I loved the team interactions.  It was just so believable - you know, if werewolves actually existed this was totally be how they worked together. Mac is out to get a story - and she is stubborn enough to do whatever it takes to get it (outside of lying - she's actually a good journalist that way).  I really fell in love with her "freak out" moment.  This is the moment she realizes that werewolves exist and she just might be crushing hard core on one.  The freak out moment can really make or break a story for me.  So totally unbelievable if the girl is like "wow cool - werewolves".  Hell no!  There should be some serious shock factor - and I was very happy with this books "freak out" moment.  The story is a great mix of romance and suspense as well.  I love a good suspense story and this one really delivers.  When the SWAT team is targeted by a determined bad guy, Mac's life is on the line.  Mac isn't one to sit still and wait to be rescued though.  She takes things into her own hands and tries to fix things herself - I love a self-sufficient woman.  Overall, this was a very exciting read on several different levels.  *This book was received in exchange for an honest review*

Fast sexy read, hot men who shift into wolves, and an action packed story with great characters. Mackenzie Stone, Mac to those who know her, is an investigative reporter and she doesn’t quit until she gets her story. When she gets a tip that there might be something mysterious going on in the ranks of Dallas’s elite SWAT team, she goes after the story and comes away with more than she expected…one hot man. Gage Dixon has his hands full as commander of the toughest, hottest, most alpha pack of elite sharpshooting wolf shifting SWAT team imaginable. These guys are tough, ready to the job, but also ready to tear each other apart at any moment – alpha males extraordinaire. As if keeping them from killing each other isn’t enough to prevent him from having any kind of a life, he also has to make sure that their secret is kept under wraps too. Of course, this isn’t going to be easy with the sexy, delicious smelling Mac Stone nosing around, but then he has to admit that he likes having her around – a lot. When the bad guys start getting too close and far too close to Mac, Gage and the team have to make some tough decisions, but allowing anything to happen to her is totally unacceptable. HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLF by Paige Tyler is everything I love in a PNR. It’s action-packed, exciting, filled with sexy men that make your mouth water imagining them, and then for some reason, whenever you throw alpha males together, you get humor too. I love these guys and yes, I want more of the Dallas SWAT team. These guys are bigger, tougher, faster, stronger, and growl a lot but they are funny, smart, sexy, and very protective. Yeah, they might leave a bit more hair around than we prefer for our heroes but I can handle that because they are hot, and Gage is the hottest of the hot. He’s the alpha who is alpha among the alphas yet with Mac, he’s a sweet, gentle, although major alpha in bed, sexy man or should I say puppy dog. J And when he shifts into his wolf, he gives Mac a whole new definition of riding her man. I highly recommend HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLF, book one in the SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team series by Paige Tyler even if you’re not a great fan of paranormal romance because the story is exceptional even without the wolf shifting and the romance, steamy as all get out. If you like sexy alpha male heroes…this series promises and delivers. I know I’m going to be reading more from Paige Tyler. ***print copy gifted via giveaway from publisher. New series about a SWAT team consisting of all werewolves and these guys are so hot!!! Team commander Gage Dixon runs a SWAT team of all werewolves in Dallas he has recruited from around the country . Investigative journalist Mackenzie Stone thinks something is off about this elite team and that they are hiding something illegal. She falls for the commander, but never would she have believed what the SWAT team was really hiding. Will she reveal their secret? Her life is then in danger and Gage and his team must rescue her before it is too late. Looking forward to more of this series and "THE ONE" for the rest of this special SWAT team. Highly recommend this one if you like a bit of romance, paranormal, and suspense.

Paige Tyler provides a realistic depiction of werewolves. Reviewed for Read Your Writes Book Reviews by Gemini I will admit that I am not much of a reader of paranormal books. However, I have seen more than my fair share of movies based on werewolves from The Howling to The Twilight Saga. It’s always interesting to see how much of the mythology a writer uses to create their own version of a werewolf. In this instance, I was pleasantly surprised to see a more realistic depiction of werewolves and their challenges fitting in with society. Paige Tyler doesn’t shy away from the vicious and killer instincts they have. Instead, she shows us that they can be both fierce and caring. They are loyal to a fault and still believe in finding their one true love. More importantly, when they are strongest when they are part of a pack. In Hungry Like the Wolf, Gage Dixon is a Dallas SWAT commander and werewolf pack leader. His SWAT team is made up solely of werewolves. That’s how they keep themselves and their secret safe. They resolve situations with little carnage and are above reproach which is why they garner the attention of investigative journalist, Mackenzie “Mac” Stone. She works for the Daily Star and is confident that the SWAT guys have a secret that needs to be shared with the rest of the world so she sets her sights on their compound and their leader, Gage. Mac convinces Gage to give her full access to the team which he agrees to knowing that it’s the only way that he can steer her away from their only secret. Of course, sparks fly and they have a hard time keeping things professional. Their time between the sheets is smolderingly hot and the author does a great job building up to it. Everything changes when the SWAT team gets involved in a hostage situation that is related to the local rich bad guy. Loyalties are tested and the werewolves’ best kept secret is on the verge of being exposed. So, lines are drawn and vengeance becomes the word of the day. Where there is vengeance and werewolves, there is bound to be a lot of growling, howling, and violence. Hungry Like the Wolf really comes together at that point. I was able to get a good visual of the werewolves in combat and they don’t disappoint. It was easy to cheer on the wolfpack as well as hope that Gage and Mac’s relationship survives in the end. You will have to see for yourself. **Received a copy from Sourcebook Casablanca in exchange for an honest unbiased opinion.**

Title : Hungry Like A Wolf (Swat Series ). Author : Paige Tyler Reviewed by : Stephanie Jordan ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Werewolf on a Swat team? No way, Yep it's true. Gage Dixon was head of the Dallas Police Swat Team. Gage hand picked his team members, every day they practiced every scenario there was to make sure they were prepared for anything that came there way. Everyone of the team were very tall , built with massive chest and shoulder spread, so strong , they would blur they were so fast. Everyone was a Werewolf! Mackenzie Stone, aka Mac was a journalist who had a nose for the job. She would see something and bam she was there researching, following leads then writing the article, she was good and was climbing the ladder to success. Mac knew something wasn't right with the Swat team. She kept watching them and couldn't put her finger on it. She knew each one of them studying there profiles with no luck, but she'll find out and expose them for the criminals they are. Gage was in the Command Center and Mac walked in to talk to him, well actually carried in because she was at a place at the wrong time. Gage took one whiff of her and knew, she was " The One " This book is well worth reading you won't go wrong.

Hungry Like the Wolf, Paige Tyler review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews Well, I'd read a couple of Paige’s books before, one of which didn’t work for me, but that was zombies and that’s a personal hang-up – I simply avoid them now. The other was fine, a decent read but not a great one for me so I thought one more try. This one was very good, I really enjoyed it although I did find the start a bit slow. I like to jump right in to the action but not everyone writes that way – and that's good as not everyone wants to read like that either! Anyway Mackenzie (Mac) is a journalist – not a reporter as she takes pains to remind everyone. She likes to stalk out her stories, root out the corruption and show the world the real truth. She’s very black or white about that – Truth is a big thing for her, and she thinks the public deserve it. She and I part ways here, I’ve seen “ the public have a right to know” used as an excuse for too many personal infringements, when all that’s really of interest is bumping up sales....not that I support cover ups, but there’s a grey area that needs to be recognised. Here if she finds out and reveals the truth about the SWAT team, then it will cause chaos. Witch hunts, accusations of monsters, and scientists demanding rights to slice and dice in the name of research...Humans always pick on minorities, and fear what they don’t understand and poor Gage and his Pack have a fine line to tread, doing what they love and believe in without discovery. Paige has taken a different turn with werewolves, hers aren’t created through bites but some kind of gene that's brought on by dangerous and stressful situations. That means when Gage first turned he knew nothing, and needed to learn fast. Once he worked it out he sought out others, and created his Pack. Some of the younger wolves believe in the mystery of The One, the person that's a perfect match for a werewolf, and given how strong the attraction is between Gage and Mac they want to belie she’s his One. He’s not so sure though, he thinks its probably a myth but some of them need to believe, and I can understand that. When most people would view them as monsters they need something positive to hope for. Gage and Mac get closer, very much closer and are soon in a torrid and erotic affair, but Gage has killed the son of a dangerous and powerful crime lord.  Although he saved lives and the man was in the wrong his dad is out for revenge, and that brings Gage and Mac into some serious danger. Its a great read, feels real, the sex scenes are sensual and seductive, but very physical and carnal as you’d expect from a werewolf, and the danger is climatic, heart stopping and it feels like they could easily end up dead. Sometimes these scenes are written in such a way that the danger never feels real, but here I was racing through pages to see how they’d escape. Stars: four and a half – a really fun and realistic read. ARC supplied by Netgalley and publishers.

I received an ARC via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review Book 1 of the new series, SWAT, by Paige Tyler. The Dallas SWAT team is a pack of 16 werewolf shifters, handpicked by Gage, the alpha leader. Their true nature is a secret, a secret that may be discovered if the determined journalist, Mackenzie, gets her way. The fact that she may be THE ONE for Gage makes him wonder if letting her into the compound is going to cloud his judgement and the safety of his pack/team. LOVED the book! Sixteen hot shifter alpha male eye candy is a woman's dream come true! Add being heroes to the mix and I was hooked. I sincerely hope that more SWAT books are to come.
