Editorial Reviews

Lorraine Nelson
"This fast and easy read provides an enjoyable romp through Hollywood, inviting readers into a video game geek's accidental rise to fame. Only took a couple hours to read and had lots of laughs. I'm a bit of a YA lit junkie and I liked this. Fun rags-to-riches plot combined with parody of celebrity culture. If you're looking for something short and fun to read, this is quicker than most novels and less guilt-inspiring than a celeb gossip blog. Like!"
Danielle R.
"Quick read, very cute. The format is different but effective - I felt like I was watching a movie in my mind's eye."

Meet the Author

In 2010, I graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a BA in English Literature. Before that I spent two years studying creative writing at Sarah Lawrence College. Now I'm living in New York City, and working non-stop. "HUNK" is my debut book. It's written in a new format I created called the novelogue.

A novelogue is designed to flow more like a movie, and takes about the same amount of time to finish. You get only the meat of the story, because I've cut out excessive descriptions, and relied on dialogue to move the plot forward. The details are left up to your imagination. Enjoy!

Best,

Alex Harris

Reading "Hunk" was a super fun 1hr 54min. I didn't put it down once (okay that's a not entirely true. I put it down to brush my teeth. And by "put it down" I mean perched it on the side table at a readable angle).

When it comes to the young adult genre, I usually find characters pretentious and I grow to resent them by the end of the book. Blame it on my cynical nature or the fact that I'm not an overly emotional teeny bopper (anymore). But I really enjoyed all of the characters (especially Reggie) start to finish. It was thoroughly entertaining at all points. I also enjoyed the brief but helpful imagery of the scene descriptions. As the reader it kept my mind very active and engaged. It was fun to have a fast-paced mini movie playing in my head.

Also very funny and very relatable. It kept me laughing throughout.

Well done, Alex Harris. Is it premature to say encore? or even multiple encores?

Okay being asked to read this book was an honor for me at first.

Okay being asked to read this book was an honor for me at first. I didn't know what a novelogue was until I opened the book to its first page. Was I caught by surprise. The way the book was written was a thing I didn't know if I was going to be able to get used to. However, that didn't stop me and overall I loved the book.

I liked how the the main character switched roles going from video game designer to next big time actor. Total life switched. He had some hard time starting out especially with one of his co-stars. But everyone has to go through with having a thorn in their side.

The plot and story line flowed freely through out the book. I never had the moment of when I wanted to put down the book. I continued and every word I fell in love with.

I recommend this book to people who are looking for a different kind of read. Especially for the way it is written. This book contains, love, humor, the sense of never giving up ect.

I give this book 4 souls!

    Highly recommended

Great read for 99 cents. Was looking for a new author to read on the Nook I received as a present. Love the Nook Tablet and really enjoyed this book. Hope to read a lot more from this author. Fast reading 'rags to riches' story with some clean romance and suspense thrown in.
