I don't even like murder mysteries!

I normally read more out there novels that have shape-shifters and witches in them. Its what I like to read, and I never liked murder mysteries all that much, but this book was great. It had plenty of intrigue and mind bending twists. There was plenty of tense moments to keep you wanting more. There is even some romance it it for those of you who like that, but not so much as to distract from anything else going on. I couldn't put the book down and read it in less than a day. I will definitely be reading both of her other novels. Jan Neuharth is a great author.

Great book. I picked it up as a Free Friday selection figuring that even if I didn't care for it I didn't waste any money. It definitely isn't the type of book I usually pick up, but I am sure glad I took the chance. I finished it within a day and I'm looking forward to reading the other books in the series!!!

    Should've Been Better

I like the fox hunting that frames this whodunit story. The twists and turns weren't all that surprising, though. This had so much potential, I'm bummed it didn't turn out better. I look forward to reading more from the author, because I think Neuharth has talent. It just seems squandered with this work.

    Flimsy

Definitely a "whodunit" but the characterizations were really one-dimensional. Some of the dialogue was unrealistic, and I was annoyed by all the "he gently placed a hand on her shoulder" - all the hand-to-shoulder-putting was so over done - and who does that, anyway? Some of the introspection by the characters was cheesy...and the sheriff's deputy - well, Barney Fife was more believable and certainly more likeable. Even dumb deputies aren't THIS dumb... I read this book on a "borrow" from a friend. So glad I didn't pay for it. Give me Lee Child or Teri Gerritsen or just about anyone else...I'm not impressed enough to buy.

    I can't see the covers!

Instead of this books cover, I just see a gray rectangle with the BN logo. All the books in the shop look this way. Even after I download it, the cover still doesn't show up. I've tried archiving and then downloading it, still doesn't work.
BN had better fix this quick!

    A great read!

A good start. Great follow through keeping my interest without frustration or boredom. An expected ending while still leaving you fulfilled and longing for more.
Some rough language but not excessive and used apprpriately.
    I fully enjoyed this book.

Excellent read that kept you guessing

I highly recommend this book. Fast paced and well written. Definitely a book that you won't put down once you start. Characters are excellent and the setting in Virginia is right on. You will not be disappointed with this buy. Great for the beach and vacation...beware though you will not want to stop until the book is done! Can't wait to start her next one. Hooked again!

Murder Mysteries Are Not My Type

Forced myself through a third of the book, I couldn't get interested... it was well written though. I would reccomend this book to people who like murder mysteries. I don't regret trying to read it, if anything it inspired another road trip for me. Thank you Barnes & Noble for this free Friday offering.

    Interest read

Being a new Nook user I found the "free Friday" book interesting and would recommend it to others. It was nice to be able to read a new author that I probably would not have been introduced to without this feature at B&N.
