I enjoyed this book. Kali is my kind of woman or at least the way I wish I were. The book is a light read but thoroughly enjoyable. I am impatiently waiting for the next addition to this series and her other series of the Emperor's Edge.

This is the second in the series and provides nice development of the characters through a fun plot line. Clean writing structure. A fun read. I have read and thoroughly enjoyed all of this author's work

Hunted is the second novella in the Flash Gold Chronicles series by Lindsay Buroker. In this story Ms. Buroker continues the adventure begun in Flash Gold with Kali and Cedar, bow business partners as bounty hunters. They¿ve left Moose Jaw and are setting out upon a new adventure seeking Cedar¿s arch nemesis, both for the bounty and for personal vengeance. This takes them to a mining camp out in the wilds of the Yukon where they encounter Kali¿s greatest enemy, and her hero, and find themselves in one desperate situation after another.
The story is tightly written with lots of action, witty banter between our protagonists, as well as a few of the antagonists, and is well edited. The romantic angle steps up a notch, but is still within the comfort zone of those who do not enjoy romance novels. Much more is revealed about both Kali and Cedar: their backgrounds and motivations. Even the mysterious mechanical genius antagonist steps out of the mists for an introduction. And we get another dose of the wonderful machinery for which steampunk stories are known.
My only reservation about this story is that it wanders a good distance into the realm of fantasy. For me ¿ and this is a *personal* preference ¿ any time magic overshadows the mechanics and science I begin to lose interest. "Hunted" defines the direction that this series will be taking well enough that I probably will not continue. But only because I don¿t care for magic; Ms. Buroker is an excellent writer and I have already bought Ice Crackers and Encrypted, looking for more of her stories and hoping they will be more suited to my admittedly narrow band of tastes.
Most readers will find this a very enjoyable book. Indeed, I enjoyed it, I just don¿t care for the direction it¿s heading.

I absolutely love this series. I read Flash Gold months ago and was super excited when I heard she would continue the story. This one did not disappoint. I highly recommend getting Flash Gold and reading that as well as it will make this story even more rich and entertaining. I love western steampunk and I think the author does a fabulous job creating a down to earth and quirky heroine. There is plenty of action and a little bit of romance, which always makes me happy. Lindsay Buroker is quickly becoming one of my favorites!

I had heard that the author was going to write another story in this series. That said, I would encourage purchasers of this novella to also purchase and read Flash Gold first as it will help the reader understand more about the two main characters.
This story picks up a few months after the events of Flash Gold. Kali and Cedar are in a new town and have set up a shop for cliens who might be in need of their unique services. When Kali's ex comes calling with a lucrative business proposition, she reluctantly agrees to his proposal, but only because Cedar has learned his arch-enemy is also in town and this business proposal would put him in an excellent position to try and take him out.
I love this series. Plain and simple. I love how its set in the old gold rush days in Alaska. The author blends futuristic technology in with everyday life wonderfully. I especially love how Kali and Cedar are constantly finding themselves in harrowing situations and they always find a way to get out of it, whether using his skills as a bounty hunter or her proficient knowledge of engineering and physics.
If you haven't heard about this series, go buy Flash Gold, and then buy this one. You won't be disappointed. I can't wait for the next story in this series!!
