Cadence Drake is a finder of lost things. Badger Bede is a technical wizard adept at creating programs that make Cady'slife easier. Both are handy with a stunner.
All their talents are put to the test as they search for the CORRIGAN'S BLOOD, a new kind of TFN-drive spaceship with some very special abilities. At first it looks like their dream job -- the job that will allow them to pay off their own ship, the HOPE'S REWARD, and to be more picky about the clients and work they accept -- but they quickly learn that every dream has a price.
Because behind the stolen ship lies the mystery of the people who stole it, people who appear to be using this insanely expensive vessel and others like it to smuggle inexpensive medicine to people who don't need it.
And behind that mystery is another...
Why are all these people linked to Cady's past and the one person who made it impossible for her to ever go home again?
And why does everyone in the universe want Cady dead?
This book includes a link at the back for a free download the song "Didn't Expect That," written and performed by the author.
The author notes that this song sounds much better if you listen to it wearing headphones or earbuds.
The author notes, drolly, that it also sounds a lot better if you keep in mind that I'm a writer who sings and plays guitar, and not a singer or guitarist who writes novels.

Yes, I was skeptical when I saw that this first Cadence Drake novel was about vampires. Not my favorite subject matter, by any means. And yet I'd loved Gail Carrigan's "Soulless" series, despite its containing not only vampires but werewolves, as well. So since I am a huge fan of Holly Lisle's teaching of writing, I decided it couldn't hurt to see how someone I see as a mentor could possibly create a unique and compelling vampire tale. And I'm thrilled that I took a chance, because "Hunting the Corrigan's Blood" is a page-turner. Yes, that's a cliche', I know. But that doesn't make it any the less true. Lisle's characters are deftly drawn, their motivations true to the people she has shown them to be, the storyline compelling and the multi-layered plots are masterfully interwoven with loose ends satisfyingly tied up. Read this one first, then run, don't walk, to get the second novel in the series (each stands alone but have threads connecting one to the other). And most of all, enjoy!
