Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Walker's latest is a humdrum foray into romantic paranormal adventure that's bogged down by thin characters and indistinguishable sex scenes. After bounty hunter Kane Winter witnesses the murder of his partner, Duke, during a botched drug deal, one of the only things he remembers is a beautiful, enigmatic woman who haunts his dreams. Turns out that woman is Kendall, a vampire and a Hunter for a supernatural cadre of vigilantes who protect humanity from the Hunters' "evil" counterparts. When Kane begins a quest to find Duke's killers, he discovers a knack for sniffing out and killing vampires, bringing him back in contact with Kendall. Together, they begin taking out bad guys and making frenzied vamp-hunter love, both of which grow tiresome, leading to a conclusion predictable to everyone except the characters involved. Luring them in…;

The low sensual beat pulsed across the floor as people danced, wrapped around each other so that their bodies became just one entwined shadow.

Kendall could feel the excited throb of his pulse, hear it as she shimmied a little closer and wrapped her arms around his neck. His hands shifted from her sides to a little lower, one resting dangerously close to her butt. Against her belly, she felt his sex stir and she had to fight to keep the female interest on her face.

Not that she wasn’t excited. She was plenty excited, the heat of the chase on her, ready to culminate. All she had to do was finish him.

She tipped her head back, staring up at his face and using that to shift away from him just a little, forcing a seductive smile onto her lips and watching with hidden amusement as he fell for it, smiling what she assumed was his charming smile as he stroked his hand up and down her back.

All Kendall wanted to do was to take his head between her hands and wrench it until she felt his neck snap. Even the thought of all that hot blood pumping under his skin didn’t arouse her hunger. She suspected he would taste vile. But she wanted him dead, dead and cold in the ground…;

Another winner from Shiloh Walker. This book will keep you reading. The plot is full of surprises, and her man is a hot hunk that any woman would love to meet. Her hero is a strong alpha male that matches the heat and passion of the strong female lead.

I found this story to be good until the half way point. I typically can get through a book in less than 48 hours, but somehow I could never get fully into this story and it took me four days to struggle through it. I feel taht it was too drawn out and lengthy with eztras that were not needed. I found it also very predictable and cliche. I did not no it was part of this Hunters series, but I do not see myself reading the rest of the series or anything else from this auther any time soon. I'm not particauarly interested in what happens to the characters after the end of the story; the final chapter was a huge let down (there sould have been more of the thereafter instead of the loving finally) and the epialoge made absolutely no sense; perhaps it would have made more sense if I had read the books before this one, but as a stand alone (the the entire book made no references to previous books) it was not clear. I most likely will not read this book again, nor would I recommend it to any one.

Oh WOW if you like The Blackdagger Brotherhood series, or The huntress series by L.A. Banks then you are going to LOVE this book!!! It is so good you'll never want to stop reading and then cry when it's finished because you don't want it to end. It has a perfect setup of what you want but can't have unless you give up what you have for it. Confusing but you'll understand when you read the book.

Bounty hunting partners Kane Winter and Duke Monroe were about to arrest one of America¿s most wanted drug dealers Miles Lancaster when all hell broke loose as two monsters attack the criminals. Duke shapeshifts into the big cat that he can become, but is killed saving the life of his buddy from the boy-man monster vampire. However, a woman actually rescues him from the raging frustrated Anton whom she kills for crimes against humanity the other vampire Miguel escapes. --- Two years Kane has searched for the golden eyed vampire slayer. She is his only clue to what happened on that fatal night and the link to the other vampire, but he assumes she was part of it and vows to find and kill her. Kendall knows the mortal bounty hunter she saved is hunting her ironic because she is a hunter of her people when they turn rogue. When he finally catches up to Kendall he finds his thirst replaced by a hunger of desire that she to her surprise reciprocates the forbidden relationship cannot be ignored by the two individuals in love or by her species. --- HUNTING THE HUNTER is an exhilarating romantic fantasy filled with suspense and two interesting protagonists struggling with the prohibited feelings of star-crossed love. The story line is action-packed, but the cast makes the paranormal seem genuine and normal. Shiloh Walker writes a terrific entry due to the changing relationship between the lead couple as neither Kane nor Kendall cannot resist the lure of their hunter. --- Harriet Klausner
