Overview

This free ebook is a collection of stories about men falling love, struggling with their own or other’s views of their orientation, and having some damn interesting adventures. It is a product of the Goodreads M/M Romance Group Scavenger Hunt challenge and features original stories from some excellent authors.
The Scavenger Hunt challenge is an event where readers find books that fit a criterion (like having a green cover or a title starting with “D”) and then find specific items within the pages of these books to add up to as many points as possible (for example, “twin bed” = +2 points). This challenge was a helluva lotta, fun and so we thought we share by creating the ultimate 2013 Goodreads Scavenger Hunt book.
This book was lovingly put together as a baby gift for Katie, our tireless leader, who recently had her first baby and is probably just now realizing what “busy mom” really means. Congratulations Katie!
We’ve listed the items you need to find in the front of the book. Happy Hunting (Under Covers).
Publisher’s Note: This book is intended for adult audiences. It contains sexually explicit scenes between two or more men, violence, and language which may be considered offensive by some readers.

Meet the Author

I've been writing as long as I can remember (which is longer than I like to admit). I started creating M/M romances in high-school, filling binders with stories about what Starsky and Hutch really did on their days off. (Pretty PG-rated stuff - we're talking sheltered fourteen-year-old here. I was into the romantic possibilities.) Any potential writing career got side-tracked by forays into art, psychology, teaching, and a biomedical profession. And the challenges of raising children. When I took up the keyboard again it was just for fun, writing books for my own entertainment. At about manuscript seven, my epically patient spouse told me that if I was going to spend that much time at it, I should try to get published. And he kept saying it, loudly, until I submitted one. And it was accepted! Life Lessons was published May 2011 by MLR Press. A first short story, And to All a Good Night - Life Lessons 1.5, that follows it was soon made available here, and the Life Lessons series is now complete at four MLR Press novels and three free short stories. I've been delighted by the reception my work has received, and I have other books and short stories in print. If you want a short, free taste of my work that stands alone, consider "Like the Taste of Summer", also available here. My very first Smashwords book, Lies and Consequences, started as a kind of reaction after the November 2010 elections when the DADT repeal looked like it might be derailed. Then I was caught by surprise as I finished the book in December and the repeal passed. I tweaked it by upping the action, and deemphasizing the DADT subplot. The result was something lightweight, but hopefully fun. So I put it out as a free read. I hope you enjoy it. I really appreciate reviews - what you liked and what you didn't. Maybe your comments will help turn the next good book into a better book. KH

Jay Vaughn lives in sunny Seattle, a clean, progressive city that is way too expensive for a writer’s income. Therefore, Jay holds down a full-time, computer-industry day job, but writing is her passion. It’s a hobby-gone-wild, so much so that her teenage kids accuse her of being an addict. Jay carries her laptop everywhere and can often be seen combining other favorite activities with writing. For example, you can find Jay sitting at a small table in the back of the gay bar around the corner from her house, drinking wine and writing. Or waking up early while camping, dragging out the laptop, and writing. Or writing in the truck on the way to and from concerts, ski-trips, visits to relatives ... wherever. Jay’s favorite genres are sci-fi, fantasy, and M/M erotic romance. She discovered M/M quite by accident when she was writing a traditional fantasy novel and one of her characters ended up in an all-male prison for a bit too long. Whoops! Find out what Jay is working on next at authorjvaughn.com, follow her on Facebook, or drop her a line at jayvaughn@live.com. She’d love to hear from you.

Thank goodness for Kaje Harper. No matter the situation, she always comes up with wonderful, hot characters and a solid story. This time fantasies are fulfilled with a police chief, rancher and hockey player. What more could one ask for? Other stories in this collection are a mixed bag. Kathleen Hayes gives the reader a decent outing with the tale of a time-traveling brawny Scotsman, although those looking for steamy sex won't find any here. One or two stories are hard to even comprehend and others just not worth reading. The writers had many restrictions to follow in coming up with their tales, and sometimes it shows all too apparently that they weren't up to the task. Even with the Harper story, I'm deleting this one rather than saving it for a future re-read.
