Overview

Hurricane Katrina: Through the Eyes of Storm Chasers offers a historic and unprecedented view inside a Category 5 hurricane--and of the devastating aftermath. Award-winning extreme-weather photographer Jim Reed and storm-chaser/videographer Mike Theiss document the most destructive natural disaster in U.S. history at every stage, from the days in which the Gulf Coast prepared for the approaching hurricane and evacuation procedures began to the moments when the hurricane made it's monstrous landfall and wrecked havoc in the region. The work of these two professional storm chasers is in much demand, and the pair have shared their Hurricane Katrina photographs and experiences on the Today Show, Good Morning America, MSNBC, CNBC, and CNN. Jim Reed was named by Diane Sawyer as "one of the best storm chasers in the country" during his interview on Good Morning America. The compilation includes photographs of Louisiana, including New Orleans, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida. Chilling "before and after" images demonstrate the power of this historic hurricane. Captions detailing personal stories and weather facts accompany the shocking images. A portion of the proceeds from this book will be donated to the Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund.

Its good to know we're remembered!

Great book for the Gulf Coast! After hearing and seeing pictures and shows all about Louisiana it is nice to finally see a viewpoint on our area where the storm actually hit.

It's simply the best Hurricane Katrina Book!

If you want to see what happened as the storm surge came across the coast and took out buildings this book has it. Unlike Camille, Katrina hit during the daytime and this book captures the power and full on fury of Katrina. While the news media was hunkered down riding out the storm, these two photogs were out there waist high in the wicked surge shooting pictures of Katrina's wrath. The book should be bronzed for all time. Buy it and see for yourself.

    Excellent documentation of historic hurricane

An outstanding documentation of Hurricane Katrina's storm surge at peak force. Stunning photos. Detailed captions. I respectfully disagree with the reviewer dated Feb 6. For the majority of Americans who were not in Louisiana or Mississippi during the history-making hurricane, this is a fascinating and satisfying book. True, most of the pictures appear to have been taken in Gulfport, but from what I've read, that's the area where the most powerful part of Katrina's storm surge actually made landfall. No matter where you live... If you want to see what it looks like INSIDE the heart of a violent hurricane, 'Hurricane Katrina: Through the Eyes of Storm Chasers' is the book to pick up.

    VERY DISAPPOINTING

If you live in Gulfport, MS.. ORDER THIS BOOK. If you live in Louisiana don't waste your money! While the pictures are wonderful, they are 90% of Gulfport. My sister who lives in St. Bernard parish as well as my daughter both received over 11 ft of water in their homes, yet it is like the outlying parishs of New Orleans, didn't even exist. I understand MS was totally devestated, but I would have rathered a book that focused BOTH on MS and LA as this event was earth shattering for everyone involved.

Fascinating book of hurricane as it happened

Excellent photo book showing what it looked like when Katrina made landfall in Southern Mississippi. Most other books on Katrina I've looked at so far show mostly the aftermath. This book has lots of pictures of the storm chasers being inside the hurricane as it's happening. Lots of interesting before and after photos too. Great captions and information. It makes you feel like your there. Very different from anything else I've seen.

Amazing ! This book is a great piece of History !

This book has amazing photos taken before, during, and after Hurricane Katrina made her mark. I collect any and all books I find about hurricanes and have about 15 in my collection and this book by far is the Best ! This book has the only photos I have seen taken During the actual storm. It's downright insane to see just how high the water rose! These guys are some brave warriors to put themselves on the line to capture this Historic moment in time.
