Overview

To survive, they must embrace what they most despise . . . in themselves and each other.

Mitch Turner is everything women want most in a man-charismatic, successful, drop-dead gorgeous. Except he's not a man-he's a monster.

The only way Mitch can protect others from his monstrous side is to stop them from getting too close...that and a 7x7 foot cage. Isolated by his genetic curse, he spends his life hurting people emotionally, driving them away before Hyde can harm them physically. But, after a night of the best sex Mitch has ever had, he realizes that might be impossible. Except the woman he wakes up with claims she doesn't remember any of it.

Eden Colfax is everything men want most, men other than Mitch, that is. She's kind, honest to a fault and sickeningly sweet. To rid herself of the monsters that haunted her broken childhood, Eden doesn't lie, doesn't curse, and definitely never wakes up naked in strangers' beds...until the day she does.

Then the flashbacks start-places she's never been, people she's never met, blood she's never spilled. She discovers she's split into two parts-the woman she thought she knew and another who is capable of anything. And the only person with any answers is the one man she never wants to see again.

What neither of them know is that someone is watching them both, manipulating them, determined to see just how evil the two of them really are. And when the truth begins to seep through the cracks, leaving them nowhere to turn but each other, they will be forced into a partnership neither had expected.

Because in life, who you trust is as important as who you are. And when you can't even trust yourself, sometimes the only person you can rely on is the last person on Earth you should be falling for.

*** This novel is intended for adults only, as it includes lots of cursing, descriptive sex, biting sarcasm, and themes similar to those in Stevenson's Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, from which this story was inspired.

Using the original Hyde as a starting point, Stewart has created a perfect, and perfectly hot, new character. In order to avoid a spoiler, I will offer no details. However, if you enjoy alternative (modern, not historical) type romances, suspense, and smart, well written books, you will love Hyde! It has all of the above and more. It grips you from the first page and doesn't let go! It is a great read from start to finish, and now I am ready for the next book. Hurry, Lauren! :) There is substance to the book as well, with well over 300 pages. Buy it, you won't regret the purchase!!!

Sweet baby Jesus, this is a good one!! Ok, so what if you woke up, naked, with a HAWT HUNK OF MALE PIECE YOU DON’T KNOW!!! AND HAVE NO MEMORY OF GETTING THERE!! Giggle well, I’d probably revel in that HAWT male piece, but this is literally how the story begins!! And it GETS BETTER!! So I gotta say, this is a fantastic spin on the Jekyll and Hyde story! Eden is a girl with a troubled past and even more troubled future as she is just trying to figure out how her life is spiraling out of control- again. She had this sleep walking issue as a child and it’s come back but way worse. And Mitchell knows his issue but now he’s thinking he’s done the unspeakable! It’s a fantastic little mystery unfolding! the writing is fantastic. It’ll suck you right in from the first word and have you guessing like a crazy person trying to win a game show! And there’s this “other” POV and I’m pretty sure you’ll be stunned at their involvements! And you’ll never guess how it all turns out!! But sorry, no spoilers the characters had me wanting to hug them and sometimes slap them and a lot of times stare in lust!! LOL I don’t think there’s much to say other than READ THIS BOOK! It’s fascinating and it makes you think if this could happen. Mental illnesses are very similar to some of these “symptoms” and the “medicine”… Yeah you get my point. And I LOVE the self warring! Both characters have such horrible pasts that they literally are their own worst enemies! Sometimes that can be more annoying than anything, but I really liked this situation just trust me, if you’ve ever liked the Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde story, you’ll really like this one, but we’ll keep this one for the more adult audience I’m so glad there’s going to be more, a series, so gimme gimme!! 5 PAWS! Loved it!!

Pretty darn good. I liked the concept of Jekel and Hyde. I felt like the author did a good job developing the characters and kept the story moving. There wasn't really any down time in the book. While personally i saw the "Bad Guy" before the end, it was nice to see it finally unfold and i loved the ending. I will more than likely read the second book. Well worth what i paid for it.

We all have to vent once in a while, not a pretty sight, but necessary. For Mitchell Turner it is the only way to keep his inner monster contained and people at a distance, in a “safety” zone, far from the clutches of his alter ego, Hyde. Eden “sleepwalks,” or so she thinks, but what she does while out is beyond anything anyone could possibly do in their sleep. Her inner siren craves men, sex and all in excess. As Fate would have it, Mitchell and Eden’s worlds collide under the sheets with a raging inferno, but the morning after is a disaster when Eden claims not to remember a thing. Together, they gain an uneasy truce as Eden’s pursuit of help from Mitchell takes them down a harrowing path of lifelong deceptions, death and the realization that they are not alone. Follow their dark paths down wicked twists and the machinations of others to control them like puppets in a macabre play. Lauren Stewart has built a dark world, a world on the edge of jagged and torn where evil lurks as an unknown entity incites their inner beasts and two people attempt to tame them by any means possible, including love. Hyde is NOT the tale one remembers form long ago, it is a tale of darkness, blood and a budding romance between two people who know what Hell is, what betrayal is and what the loss of lives can do to a soul. Ms. Stewart is an excellent storyteller, with pacing that matches each scene, scenes that graphically come to life and an air of mystery surrounding it all. Part horror show, part romance, mystery and dark fantasy, there is a depth to this tale that Lauren Stewart has the talent to present with bold writing.

A fresh take on an old classic!  Mitch is a sarcastic ass who still manages to be the kind of man that chooses to do the right thing despite the damage his "inner beast" craves to inflict. Eden is completely lost within her own uncontrollable issues, and despite Mitch's buttheadedness, trusts only him to help her, much to his chagrin. This book is overflowing with extraordinary characters, steamy romance, and comical dialogue. It explores the conflict of man's most basic instinct: good versus evil, man versus inner beast.  Stewart manages a perfect balance between mystery and romance with this thrilling page-turner. It demands your attention from the get-go, and refuses to allow you to walk away without knowing what happens next. The plot unravels as you read, drawing you deeper into the lives of the characters and making you root for them despite the damage they've done. Definitely a must-read!

Had a good time reading this twist on a beloved old theme. Lives interwoven in a deception that has all of them wondering who and what they are, with emotions running high, and lots of characters- from the dual personalities, to the ones hiding The Clinic's secret, to the cop trying to figure out who really committed a crime, all of them own take on what's really going on made for some tense moments. All in all, not a bad read and eventually I'll get the next ones.

Hyde by Lauren Stewart is an urban fantasy that was pleasantly surprising. It was like a modern day Jekyll and Hyde. This story shows that love can be found amid chaos and confusion. Mitch knew he was a monster. One that had to be caged once a month. Eden did not know what was happening to her. When she wakes up in a strange bed, with a man, she thinks she is sleepwalking…hummm, yeah, again. After Eden wakes up several times in Mitch’s yard, they decide to get some answers. They soon find out that Eden is a monster too. Except hers seems to be a nympho. Throw in a jealous personal assistant, and you have the makings of a fantastic book. Once I got started on this book, I could not put it down. I literally wanted to start reading the next book before I was finished just to see how the story played out. Alas, I restrained myself, barely. Now all bets are off and I will be starting the next one as soon as possible. Lauren how could you do that to me? I am now an addict to these books. 5 stars for keeping me interested and guessing throughout the story.

Enjoyed the book very much, and the next installment, Jekyll, as well.  It gives a different slant on the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde story.  Interesting plot line, steamy sex, and a few bouts of humor make for a very good read.
