Anyone who's ever ventured away from the safety of home and had, shall we say, a less than successful time of it will appreciate these tales, the next iteration of the great anthology from Travelers' Tales. Lots of hilarious stuff, the downright funniest of which (in my opinion) was a short piece called 'Sleepless in Florence' by a first-time author named Mark St. Amant (I'd never heard of him), a tale of his obnoxiously loud downtown Florence apartment that had me rolling on the floor and kicking my feet in the air (which scared my kids). Worth the purchase for 'Sleepless' alone -- St. Amant proves himself worthy of sharing the same anthology that has included such travel humor/narrative writing greats as Sedaris, Bryson, and Barry -- but there's lots of other great stuff that even the most casual armchair traveler will appreciate (the giant Russian and the 'culebra' will cause laugh-induced stomach pain, too!). I'd highly recommend 'Hyenas.' 214 pages, not overwhelming, very enjoyable. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
