Fantastic Solo Album by Living Colour Frontman

If you're looking for the blistering guitar pyrotechnics of Living Colour, this is NOT the album for you (guitarist Vernon Reid is nowhere to be found). However, this album balances and accentuates the diverse influences of Glover's former band. Outside of the two rockers (Do You First... and Sermon), the album settles into a very soulfull groove. Glover's voice on the songs Little Girl and Hot-buttered Soul hint at the next coming of Al Green. Glover successfully melds jazz with a funky groove on Low-Ball express. But Glover's voice is at it's absolute best on the Rhythm and Blues tinged songs such as Only Time Will Tell (which should blow away anyone who thought The Commitments were the best ambassadors of Wilson Pickett R&B). Overall, this is a great album, and hopefully Glover records another very soon.
