From The CriticsReviewer: Thomas D. Elmore, MD (University of Tennessee at Memphis College of Medicine)
Description: This second edition of a book on hysterosalpingography serves to update the 1991 edition.
Purpose: The purpose is to preserve a concise atlas of hysterosalpingography.
Audience: The authors provide an easy-to-read, complete reference to both the clinician and/or student of the gynecological patient in regards to hysterosalpingography, primarily addressing the subject of infertility.
Features: Chapters include not only the workup and causes of infertility but also clinical findings and excellent correlation with radiographic examples. The authors have cited renowned gynecologists in the development of this book, and have provided high quality photographs of radiographic findings, both normal and pathological. The organization follows a logical presentation and concludes with a chapter devoted to tubal recanalization which was not included in the original edition. Advances in techniques include magnetic resonance imaging, vaginal sonography, and sonohysteroscopy.
Assessment: I believe that this edition provides an excellent text and atlas covering the subject matter in a concise yet complete manner.
