Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Lisa Colozza Cocca
When the physical education teacher announces the class will play softball next week, Alicia groans. During last year's game, she missed an important catch, struck out, and ended her team's chance to catch up and win. She does not want to embarrass herself again. This short chapter book is part of the "Victory School Superstars" series. All of the students at Victory School have a super skill and Alicia's is jumping. Unfortunately, Alicia does not see how her super skill can help her in softball. Initially, she decides to go on strike against softball, but with the help of her friend, Tyler, her twin brother, Danny, and her parents, Alicia learns the secret to being a better player is practice. Heavily illustrated with bright and cheerful images, the book also includes a glossary and a timeline of softball's history in the back matter. This book will likely be a hit with young sports fans.
