Overview

Every few years brings another and different iteration of Elvis Presley's gospel recordings, and at four discs, I Believe: The Gospel Masters is the biggest ever released by RCA, including every song from his three gospel LPs and one gospel EP. That accounts for only three-quarters of the program, the other fourth consisting of sacred odds-and-ends throughout his catalog, mostly from his soundtracks or the live show Elvis on Tour, which included a five-song gospel set. Also included are three home recordings and one track from NBC-TV Special, the 1968 comeback show. Elvis' gospel work is still among the best that's ever been produced in that large and talented genre, and he excelled in virtually every setting.

If you like Elvis and you like gospel this is a must have cd. It is totally awesome. My parents even like it and they don't like Elvis. This is Elvis at his very best.

From the worlds greatest entertainer comes his heart and soul through his gospel music. His talent and ability to sing in any range is displayed in this collection of gospel music. He sings with his heart and you can feel his sincere expression of his love for the Lord. I reccommend this to everyone; even the causual Elvis fan will find this collection of gospel music a joy to listen to.

That Voice! Elvis Presley is not just the greatest singer to emerge from Rock & Roll, he is not just one of the greatest singers to emerge from America-and that includes Frank Sinatra and Billie Holiday-he is one of the greatest singers in the history of the vocal chord. Range, expression, phrasing and particularly, strength and power-Elvis can be compared to the greatest Opera singers. I prefer his Rock & Roll, but truth be told, there is no better showcase of the absolute power, diversity and complexity of That Voice than the newly released, 4-CD box set, "I Believe" The Complete Gospel Masters.
