Most young children learn at an early age to say, "I can do it." With some of Jim Henson's Sesame Street Muppets, a child is shown lots of things that he can do alone, as well as lots of things that he can do with friends. The simple rhyming sentences range from three to seven words, and are printed in large type. The large spot illustrations work well with the easy text. The illustrations, too, move the reader from indoors to outdoors, from fall to summer, from learning settings to play settings. Everyone ends up watching a parade, where one last help is a boost up for baby. The book "smiles" from beginning to end. "Step into Reading" series, a Step 1 Book.

PreS-KA book that is right on target with the needs and skills of preschoolers. One sentence on each page in extra-large print, repetition of the phrase "I can," and predictable rhymes all aid in comprehension. Familiar situations illustrated with friendly Muppets will also help young children achieve success in reading.
