In two previous reviews I have extolled the value of giving and receiving books as a child. In our family and with our friends, reading has as much value as the clean air that we breathe and the nutritious food that we eat. We began reading very early. Our sons began reading early as well. Our almost four year old grandson is read to by both his parents often. This book is part of a Christmas gift of books. Building a personal library is important so that we can re-read personal favorites. Giving a book to a child is a gift of love. Many of the books that are now in our sons' personal libraries came from our own personal cache of books that we had as children. My own books help me keep in touch with those in my past that I love and want to remember. I am now almost 68 years old and I remember when I used to sit with my grandparents and listen as they read to me. They also taught me to read by the age of three going on four. Reading is a comfort!!!

This book is great for beginners & also allows discussion about WHY it's so important to READ! :) So many kids today rather sit in front of a video-game instead of picking up a book & this is a perfect opportunity to discuss the advantages of reading & why it's important!!!

My daughter who just turned 4 has at least 12 copies of Dr. Seuss books. However, at school she read "I Can Read with my Eyes Shut" and came home telling me she wanted the book. We went to our local B&N that weekend and she found the book on her own. I was very impressed. She chooses her own bedtime story book each night and when we choose this one. She finishes ALL the sentences! She loves this book very much!Great purchase.

My kids are 2 and 4 and love most Dr. Suess books. Although they like this one, as well, it is not one of their favorites.

I bought this for my four year old, once he had mastered "Green Eggs and Ham." It's a little more challenging, but still easy for those who are still learning to read. I would definitely buy it again or give as a gift.
