4.0 out of 5 stars Good Inspirational Story, August 21, 2011

This book is very different from Chicki's others. It had a bit of romance, and absolutely no sex. So if you are looking for the typical romance novel than this one isn't for you.

There was a clear Christian message from the very beginning of the book. Although I did think Rick was a bit self righteous at times about Tamyra's dancing, he had many redeeming qualities and his heart was in the right place so you couldn'

Chicki Brown's latest book, 'I Can't Get Next to You' is written in typical smooth Chicki Brown style. I love the way this author writes and although I was hesitant to read this book because of it's "inspirational" label, I decided to give it a try. Primarily because I've read and enjoyed all of this author's books. I should't have worried - I really enjoyed this story.

You have got to read this one!

The romance between the Christian lawyer and the pole dancer from another author's pen might be difficult to believe, but Chicki Brown weaves a masterful tale and makes the impossible seem possible. When Warrick and Tamyra meet at the gentleman's club where she dances, he believes that it's a relationship ordained by God, but his well-to-do Christian parents and lawyer friend are far from convinced that she's The One. He even has a hard time convincing Tamyra that God has a purpose for their union. Loosely based on the story of Hosea and the prostitue in the Bible, this modern day romance will have you up til all hours trying to see how things turn out. I plan to read everything that Chicki writes...she is just that good!

    Pretty Good

This is my first time reading anything by this Author and I must admit the story was very entertaining. It seemed to drag close to the end, and the last chapter seemed rushed, but I want to commend this author for completely ending this story. Yes, there could possibly be a part 2, but it shows that there is some creativity and we don’t have to always wonder whether there will be a continuation of a book. Overall it was a good read. I will be reading other books by this author real soon.
