This long-awaited culmination of the Locus best-selling Agent of Change sequence of Sharon Lee and Steve Miller's internationally acclaimed Liaden Universe® novels, pits unexpected friends and enemies against each other in a war that spans planets and races and threatens to bring interstellar violence to the very surface of fabled Liad. Val Con yos'Phelium--a Scout, former Agent of Change, husband, brother to Turtles, and designated heir to Clan Korval's fortune and mission . . . whether you considered him respectable or not, no one would call him a gambling man. Pat Rin yos'Phelium--fond father, bon vivant, ne'er-do-well... and a professional gambler. The enemies of Korval have offered Pat Rin the Ring that would make all of Korval's holdings his own and a Juntavas Judge has offered Pat Rin a world... If you have read and enjoyed any of the Liaden Universe Books you must get this one. I would recommend that you do not read it first - you should read Partners in Necessity first -or the three books that make up that title) and Plan B. Though it probably could stand on its own, it makes much more sense if read after the other books. It is fast paced and ties up many (slightly) loose threads. Pat Rin finally comes into his own. Anthora finds her life mate (or perhaps the Tree finds him for her). (I look forward to the authors having their collection of short stories published so readers can understand where Ren Zel comes from. Note: in 'Changeling'). The Department of the Interior is thwarted with the assistance of 'Edger' and the Turtles. Clan Korval moves onwards etc etc! I've re read this book several times. Its wonderfully satisfying!
